Meta Horizon+ subscribers are getting a substantial free upgrade, with a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass now included in the VR gaming subscription. Horizon+ was renamed from Meta Quest+ in 2025 as Meta brought more of its VR platform under the Horizon brand.
The selection of more than 50 games includes Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Grounded, Overcooked 2, and other established Xbox titles. Subscribers can stream games to a large virtual screen on Meta Quest or download supported titles to a PC or Xbox for unlimited local play.
Existing Horizon+ members receive Xbox Game Pass without paying more. That is a welcome bonus for current subscribers and another reason for Meta Quest owners who have been considering Horizon+ to give it a try.
Horizon+ costs $7.99 per month or $59.99 annually and already includes a catalog of more than 100 native Quest games. Microsoft’s standard Xbox Game Pass Essential subscription costs $9.99 per month in the US, making Meta’s combined offer particularly compelling.
There is an important limitation. The starter edition included with Horizon+ provides only 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming each month. That should be enough to sample several games or play occasionally, but regular cloud gamers could use the allowance quickly. Downloaded games are not subject to the same time restriction.
Xbox gaming on Quest previously required Game Pass Ultimate and a separate Bluetooth controller. Meta is lowering that barrier with an upcoming gamepad emulator that will let Quest Touch controllers imitate a traditional Xbox controller.
Microsoft has also expanded its support beyond cloud streaming. Xbox Remote Play on Meta Quest lets players stream games directly from their own console to a virtual display inside the headset.
Quest owners have other ways to play flatscreen games in VR as well. GeForce Now on Meta Quest offers another cloud gaming option for players who prefer Nvidia’s service or already own supported PC games.
