October 27, 2026 – Mojo Vision, a developer of micro-LED technology for products including AI glasses and optical interconnects, has recently announced that it has received USD $24.4 million in additional government funding to develop monolithic full-color microdisplays for near-eye augmented reality (AR) applications.
Mojo Vision stated that the program will develop ultra-bright, monolithic microdisplays using the company’s proprietary quantum dot color conversion. According to the company, the displays are designed to improve brightness and reliability while reducing size, weight, and power, giving warfighters more comfortable equipment and better situational awareness.
Mojo Vision added that advances in the underlying micro-LED technology, CMOS integration, and wafer scale manufacturing are also expected to strengthen the shared platform behind its display and optical interconnect businesses.
“This award accelerates our work to put ultra-bright, full-color displays into the hands of the warfighter and strengthen America’s ability to manufacture them,” said Nikhil Balram, CEO of Mojo Vision. “We built Mojo around a simple idea: the same micro-LED technology that changes how people see information can change how computing systems move data. This program strengthens the technology and manufacturing foundation behind both.”
Mojo Vision noted that the funding is its largest government award to date. The funding was awarded through the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy, with $20 million coming from the office’s Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program and $4.4 million from the U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR).
The Department of War has previously highlighted the importance of a secure domestic supply of microdisplays. “Microdisplays are crucial components in delivering information to the joint warfighter and are integrated into solutions across all domains including heads-up-displays for pilots, advanced night vision goggles, weapon optics, and unmanned systems,” said Michael Cadenazzi, Assistant Secretary of War for Industrial Base Policy. “Securing a domestic supply of advanced MicroLED displays is vital for the Department’s next-generation defense applications, ensuring both performance and security.”
