Steam on Windows could offer to install games that only run on Steam Frame, and Valve has now fixed that in the Steam beta. Valve’s notes for the October 16 beta say Frame native-only content no longer shows as installable on Windows.

Valve did not say which games were affected or how many players saw the problem.
Some Steam games now run on Steam Frame and on no PC at all
The bug exists because a Steam game is not always a PC game any more. Valve lets developers release games that target only Steam Frame, often Android builds first made for Meta Quest. Those run on the headset’s chip.

Fast Travel Games’ Action Hero and Halfbrick’s The Thrill of the Fight 2 were two of the first. Neither will run on a Windows PC connected to a VR headset. Zen Studios’ Pinball FX VR followed on October 14, limited to Steam Frame hardware.
On Windows, Steam could still list content like this as something to install, even though the PC cannot run it.

Windows players in the beta should no longer see Frame-only content as installable
The change affects only what Steam on Windows offers to install. Nothing changes about which games run where.
For now the fix is only in the Steam beta, which any player can opt into from Steam’s settings. Valve has not said when it will reach the regular client.
The same beta speeds up Steam’s start-up and makes friends’ voice chat volume settings stick between sessions.
