Becca Tobin hasn’t received a call about the Glee reboot. “This gives me diarrhea,” the actress said on her LadyGang podcast.
Disney+ and Hulu ordered the new series on October 21, TVLine reported. The production comes from 20th Television, the original musical comedy, about a high school show choir in Ohio, ended its six-season run on Fox in 2015.
During the October 22 podcast episode, covered by Entertainment Weekly, Tobin said she was happy for her former colleagues. The announcement brought back the feeling of being a high school student worried about missing an invitation.
She played cheerleader Kitty Wilde during the show’s final three seasons, joining after its original cast had already spent years working together. “There’s no guarantee,” she said of being asked to return, while stressing that she did not feel entitled to a role.
Tobin Imagines Questions About a Reboot She Might Not Join
Tobin pictured people asking her about the new show even if she did not appear in a single scene. She also acknowledged how difficult it could be to fit returning characters and newcomers into the same story, and said she did not know what cocreator Ryan Murphy had planned.
As for Kitty, she said that the writers were unlikely to be sitting around trying to work out how to bring her character back. Her cohost Jac Vanek replied that they should be doing exactly that.
Tobin also voiced frustration with the opportunities available to some of her former castmates. In her view, actors who had given years of work to the series had not necessarily received comparable opportunities afterward.
In a May 2024 appearance on And That’s What You REALLY Missed, hosted by Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz, Tobin recalled being taunted online for no longer being relevant. According to PEOPLE, she said those messages made her question why she had not found another hit within six months of the original show ending. McHale also discussed how closely audiences associated the actors with their Glee characters.

Murphy discussed the project at FX’s American Horror Story celebration at New York’s Hotel Chelsea on September 23. He told GMA that the script had been completed that day. He had written it with Glee cocreators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the event, Murphy said he had been in touch with roughly 10 original cast members. “It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea,” he said, according to Variety.
The actors had not yet read the material when he gave that interview. Murphy said he wanted to write a couple of episodes and hear what the cast thought, describing the close relationships they had formed while making the original show.
Lea Michele’s Return Is Reported as Other Castmates Hint at Reunions
In a separate report, Variety said Lea Michele would reprise Rachel Berry, citing multiple sources. Representatives for Michele and Murphy did not comment. Disney’s initial announcement provided no cast list.
Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet also posted messages that appeared to signal their involvement, according to the same report. Morris played Brittany Pierce, while Overstreet played Sam Evans. His October 21 post read, “Reunited and it feels so good!”
Michele had already expressed interest in returning during a September interview with E! News. She spoke warmly about the series and its creator, saying, “I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”
For Matthew Morrison, who played glee club director Will Schuester, Page Six cited Deadline reporting that he was not yet in talks to appear but remained hopeful about participating.
