A new open-source emulator called Venture aims to bring games from a Meta Quest library to PC VR headsets, including Batman: Arkham Shadow and Asgard’s Wrath 2. Its developer says it “runs every game we tested,” but that claim covers a specific list of 25 titles and does not mean each game was played from beginning to end.
Venture is an independent project for Windows and Linux, not an official Meta release. Its developer says it uses a compatible PC VR headset and OpenXR runtime to run the Quest versions of games users already own. We have not independently tested its performance or compatibility.
That could be interesting to players who have a Quest library and want to use another PC VR headset. It also involves a significant decision: the project asks users to sign in with the Meta account that owns their games, and its compatibility list is not a guarantee that a game will work throughout on every PC.

What the compatibility list actually promises
The project’s compatibility list, last updated October 28, marks the tested builds of Batman: Arkham Shadow, Asgard’s Wrath 2, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR and Resident Evil 4 as working on both Windows and Linux. It also lists other games that already have official PC VR versions, including Beat Saber.
The check mark has a specific meaning: a game rendered without major rendering errors in the project’s test. The list says that does not require a complete playthrough, and results can change with the headset’s OpenXR runtime, graphics driver, GPU or game update. A working opening is useful evidence, but it does not establish that every later level or feature works.
The developer’s list names the precise builds tested, including version 1.4.1 of Batman: Arkham Shadow. A different version may behave differently. The project’s use of “Quest exclusive” means the game is confined to Meta’s platforms, which can include the older Rift PC store; it does not necessarily mean the game has never appeared on a console.
It runs a Quest game on the PC rather than streaming it
According to the project’s instructions, Venture downloads games from the library tied to a user’s Meta account and runs the Quest build as a PC process. It also describes importing files from a Quest in developer mode or from local files. Players need their own legitimate copy of the game.
The project says games render on the computer’s GPU and communicate with the headset through OpenXR. Its website describes support for older Oculus VrApi games and 32-bit ARM titles as well as newer 64-bit ones. An optional setting adds installed titles to Steam and SteamVR as shortcuts; that is different from buying a native Steam edition.
Venture publishes its own performance comparisons, but those are developer-supplied results, not independent benchmarks. Its Windows charts use an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and an RTX 5090 at 2,800 × 2,856 pixels per eye, with notes that some comparisons use different settings. They do not establish how the software will perform on a typical gaming PC.
Check account and privacy trade-offs first
Venture is free and its code is public, but it is not affiliated with Meta. Its normal library flow requires a Meta account sign-in, so users should consider whether they trust an independent tool with access to an account containing purchased games. We have not audited the application or confirmed whether this use complies with Meta’s terms; neither a ban nor account safety can be assumed.
The developer says a crash report can collect launcher and game logs and upload them to an unlisted paste for sharing. Review what you choose to submit before sharing a report. The project’s compatibility page and issue tracker are useful starting points, but this early release should be treated as an experiment rather than a supported Meta or Valve feature.
