March 10, 2026 – ŌURA, a provider of smart ring technology and the company behind the Oura Ring, has recently announced the acquisition of Doublepoint, a Helsinki-based developer specializing in gesture recognition technology. The acquisition is the fourth strategic purchase by Oura, following its previous acquisitions of Sparta Science, Veri, and Proxy.
Founded in 2020, Doublepoint focuses on AI-driven biometric software that allows users to control devices through hand movements. Oura stated that it believes the future of wearable AI will be powered by a combination of voice and gestures, and as such, the acquisition will help to:
- Strengthen its long-term innovation roadmap
- Support future offerings while advancing more intuitive ways for people to interact with technology, and
- Accelerate its ability to develop privacy-first, ambient AI experiences.

Doublepoint’s technology helps devices understand small hand movements, and enables interactions to feel faster and more natural across different interfaces. Oura stated that when layering this on top of its own continuous sensing and health insights, it will enable the creation of new kinds of “quiet, helpful features” that work in the background.
“From the beginning, Doublepoint has focused on building gesture-recognition technology that feels effortless and human,” said Ohto Pentikäinen, Doublepoint co-founder and CEO. “Joining forces with Oura will allow us to bring our capabilities to a much broader audience and accelerate a shared vision for more personal, adaptive, and responsive computing experiences.”
According to Oura, the acquisition includes Doublepoint’s team of AI architects and its four founders. This team will remain primarily based in Helsinki, working with Oura’s global teams to design future AI-led experiences. The company added that the Doublepoint team will be “central to designing and shipping the AI-led experiences that will define Oura’s future.”
Oura recently reached a valuation of approximately USD $11 billion and has sold more than 5.5 million rings to date. The Doublepoint acquisition amount was not disclosed in the company’s announcement.
