June 9, 2026 – L’Atitude 52°N, a German design-led eyewear brand, has announced that open sale of its ‘Berlin’ smart glasses begins today across the US and Europe. The glasses form part of the brand’s ‘Departure Collection’, which was first unveiled at CES 2026 in Las Vegas in January, and are priced at USD $449.
The Berlin glasses feature a 12MP Sony IMX681 CMOS sensor with a 107° ultra-wide field of view, capturing 1080p video at 30fps with built-in stabilization. Clip lengths range from 30 seconds to three minutes, with recording triggered by a single touch or voice command. Photos and videos can be captured in portrait or landscape.
The company stated that a dedicated 6nm AI imaging processor captures “up to 40% more visual data, enabling richer color, smoother transitions, and greater detail.” The glasses also feature AI noise reduction and HDR to support challenging lighting conditions. For privacy, a status LED indicates photo or video capture, recording stops if the LED is covered, audio recording is not supported and photos and videos are stored locally before being removed after synchronization with a paired device.
The glasses weigh approximately 50-51 grams and are constructed from Swiss EMS TR90 with stainless steel spring hinges and IP65 protection. L’Atitude 52°N noted that its Berlin device features hinges that incorporate nanotechnology and UV-hardened surfaces to ensure it can withstand 20,000+ open-close cycles and repeated exposure to rain and sweat. Onboard storage is 32GB, with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 Low Energy connectivity.
Audio is handled by dual open-ear Bluetooth speakers and a five-microphone array with AI-powered noise reduction. A 200mAh battery provides up to six hours of use, with the included IP67-rated charging case adding eight to ten additional full charges, according to the company. L’Atitude 52°N added that fast charging reaches approximately 70% in 20 minutes.
Recognized with the Red Dot Award 2026 for Product Design, the Berlin frames will be available in two colorways, Obsidian and Dune, alongside a variety of lens options including standard tinted, optional polarized, photochromic, and prescription-ready configurations. Both of the brand’s frame styles are prescription-ready and can be fitted with custom lenses by an optician.
The glasses are paired with the ‘Latitude 52’ companion app, available now for iOS and coming to Android in mid-June. The app integrates the ‘Goya AI’ assistant, which supports live multilingual translation across English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian, as well as an AI tour guide feature powered by Google Gemini for landmark recognition and cultural exploration.
Additionally, the glasses feature an ‘Intercom Strap’ accessory, which enables offline group communication for up to eight users via Bluetooth and Mesh, without relying on a phone. The company stated the feature is suited to group activities such as cycling, hiking, and skiing.
