Some GTA 6 fans have found a PlayStation 5 glitch that lets them add the game to their “recently played” list, even though GTA 6 has not been released yet. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. The glitch has been spreading across social media, with players sharing images and videos showing “recently played: GTA 6” on their PlayStation Network accounts.
It has been 15 years since Grand Theft Auto 5 came out, and Rockstar Games has delayed GTA 6 multiple times since its announcement. Every small piece of news about the game stirs up a strong reaction from fans, who are a mix of excited and frustrated about the long wait.
According to The Daily Dot, the situation started on February 28, when a PlayStation news account on X reported that two GTA 6 title IDs had appeared in Sony’s database. Days later, the account posted those two IDs publicly, and within hours, players started using them to trigger the glitch and show the game in their profiles.

If you select the game from the “recently played” list, it even shows the official release date of November 19, 2026. Fans who are eager for more news may want to keep an eye on an upcoming date that could reveal new GTA 6 details. However, anyone who wants to check if someone is faking it can simply look at their Trophies progress for GTA 6; if it shows zero percent, it’s just the glitch.
Pulling off this trick is “quite complicated” and involves some technical steps using GitHub. While some players used it to convince friends they had accessed an early version of the game, it is fairly easy to see through.
Xbox users joined in with their own bragging, pointing out that they have actually had the game sitting in their libraries for months already. That is because Xbox allows users to download the app for a game before it officially launches.
The glitch sparked a wave of jokes online. Reddit user u/valetteoftheball summed it up by saying, “Dang we really got gta 6 glitches before gta 6.” Another user, u/Late_Combination_984, simply wrote, “Ain’t no way bro played GTA 6 before GTA 6.”
Not everyone found it funny. User u/LionHeartedLXVI questioned the effort, asking, “So people are genuinely going to all that effort, just to make it look like they’ve played a game they haven’t actually played?” But @Road_to_Leonida on X called it a “Pretty cool little glitch if you want to be popular with your mates for a few mins.”
The game has also been making headlines for other reasons, including Russia threatening to ban GTA 6 over a controversial addition. Meanwhile, @Crusader3456 expressed the frustration many fans feel, saying, “The reason I am most excited for GTA VI to come out is for the ‘nothing’ coverage about it to end.”
