Our newest Damage Hero enters Overwatch as the fearsome Omnic head of the Hashimoto Clan and most terrifying of the Five Elders, but her story started long before she sat at the top. Captured, isolated, and used as a training bot by those who feared her, Shion survived by becoming stronger than anyone expected. Now she’s free, lording over it all with terrifying confidence and a taste for excess.
Shion’s kit is built around aggressive movement, relentless pressure, and overflowing style to take your foes for a wild ride. Dual pistols snap from target to target with a unique three-round firing cadence for ruthless precision. Dashes let her weave through fights faster than the enemy can react. And when subtlety stops being useful or fun, you can simply ride straight through the battlefield before turning your bike into a projectile weapon.
Welcome to Neon Junction
You’ve been asking for a new Hybrid map for a long time, and we’re finally answering !
Introducing the Neon Junction map, set beneath glowing storefronts on the streets of Tokyo, where the Hybrid format lets the story unfold naturally as you push closer to the heart of Hashimoto territory. The city feels alive at every turn; packed with arcades, capsule machines, late-night shops, and hidden alleyways.
Fight through the nightlife to capture the initial zone, making sure to stop and explore, because you never know what treasures you may find (especially in places like Hobby World and Capsule Hunt Go! *hint/wink*). Then escort the payload toward Zuiko-za, where the city’s polished surface starts to crack. Every section of the map comes to life, from giant towering robots to shady alleyways that hint at who really controls the streets after dark.
Oh, and our payload robot is the one and only ANDROMEDA III from the hit series Super Cosmic War: Star☆Infinite! Andromeda is piloted by the illustrious Pia. Together, they are defending Future Earth from the evil machinations of the Centauri Empire and their nefarious champion, SAGITTARIUS IV!
Every Street Tells a Story
This season, the city is more than just a backdrop, it’s part of the synergistic story several ways over.
Anima Strike is a three-week event that unfolds as you fight your way through the new Neon Junction Hybrid map, where Shion reigns supreme. Conquer daily and weekly challenges to move across the map discovering the Hashimoto, Yokai, and Subway locations, all littered with lore as locations tied to the growing unrest spreading beneath the city surface.
The deeper you push into Tokyo, the more you uncover, including choices to make on branching paths and over 50 themed rewards to stack. And once you’ve completed the main path, a prestige path unlocks, if you want to go further for more rewards.
Anima Strike is a narrative driven by your momentum, told at your pace, your way. Hit the neon streets from June 16 – July 6!
Community Crafted
All the best Overwatch discussions start with a simple question: “What if we tried this?“
Community Crafted brings four creators directly into the design process alongside the Hero team. Guxue, Ocie, Apply, and mL7support each helped shape gameplay experiments designed to explore different possibilities for familiar Heroes.
- Guxue’s version of Reinhardt leans harder into his brawler fantasy, rewarding aggressive hammer play and encouraging you to stay in the fight.
- mL7support reimagines Baptiste’s kit by transforming Immortality Field into an Ultimate while creating more flexible tactical opportunities with Amplification Matrix.
- Apply’s Ashe changes give B.O.B. a bigger battlefield presence while rewarding smart setup and combo-driven gameplay.
- Ocie revisits Sombra’s disruptive flanker roots, restoring some of her dive identity while creating more interactive counterplay around Hack.
Some changes push aggression further, some open fresh tactical options, and others revisit playstyles you may have been missing or open entirely new ways to think about the game.
Think of it as more of a conversation than a balance patch. And for two weeks from June 30 – July 13, everyone gets to join in the fun!
Hero Selection
The Overwatch roster keeps growing, and Hero Select is growing with it! This redesign makes it easier to browse Heroes, switch between roles, customize your look, and get into the action faster. New role filters, larger Hero portraits, improved controller navigation, and direct access to skins help streamline every match before it begins. Plus, Role and Sub-Role information now appears directly on-screen, and Hero Select automatically adapts to your queue type, helping you focus on the Heroes available to you while keeping the full roster within reach. Basically, Hero Select now puts everything you need exactly where you’d expect it!

Ascendant Phoenix Illari Hero Skin

Excavation Initiative rewards you for doing what you’d already be doing: playing Overwatch. Throughout the season, you’ll earn Loot Boxes simply by logging in, completing challenges, winning games, and staying active week after week. The more you play, the more opportunities you’ll have to uncover a total of 17 Loot Boxes, plus 1 Epic and 1 Legendary Loot Box, all packed with rewards. No complicated routes, no hidden catches…just a season-long treasure hunt with Venture leading the way.
Stadium Report
Season 3 delivers a major Stadium update, with refreshes across nearly the entire Hero roster and larger reworks for several Heroes such as Hazard, Tracer, Kiriko, Sojourn, Doomfist, and more. Return to a favorite build or search for something entirely new but expect familiar Heroes to play differently and fresh strategies to emerge across every role. On top of the Hero updates, we’re removing Grouping Restrictions for Ranked. Plus, Oasis University joins the map pool, giving Stadium a new playground to master as the meta enters its next chapter.
Battle Passes
Summer is heating up in the Season 3 Battle Pass. Light up the fight with rewards inspired by lantern festivals, summer celebrations, and nights that never seem to end. Climb through tiers to unlock seasonal cosmetics, Legendary and Epic skins, currencies, and more.
