July 23, 2026 – Samsung Electronics has announced its intelligent eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked in London this week, showcasing two designs created with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
The company stated that the designs build on the concepts announced at the latest Google I/O, and that the eyewear brings AI directly into the user’s line of sight to provide timely information and assistance while allowing them to stay engaged with the people, places and tasks around them.
Built in partnership with Google and running on the Android XR platform, the smart glasses bring Gemini to a wearable eyewear form factor. According to Samsung, the device can summarize long messages, read key information aloud and support live translation, with users controlling the experience through simple voice or gesture interactions, with gestures only provided via a connected Galaxy Watch9 device.
“Google and Samsung have a shared vision to bring helpful and context-aware intelligence into everyday life,” said Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google. “Built on the Android XR platform, the intelligent eyewear blends world-class designs with Gemini’s advanced assistance that naturally responds to what you see, delivering all-day, hands-free help. We’re excited to continue this momentum and bring this experience to people soon.”
Designed for everyday wear, the glasses combine a lightweight frame and slim profile with battery performance rated at up to nine hours on a single charge, plus up to an additional seven full charges from the charging case, according to Samsung.
The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform, which Samsung stated supports AI performance designed for real-time assistance, with touch interaction, connectivity, power efficiency and thermal management optimized within the compact frame.
A built-in camera that brings added context and fresh privacy questions
The glasses also feature a built-in camera that helps to provide visual context for the AI experience. When prompted, the device can capture what the user is seeing, such as a whiteboard or meeting discussion, and organize key information in Samsung Notes. Users can also request guidance based on their location, share what they are seeing during a call, or record their own point of view. Samsung added that the device can support follow-up interactions by understanding the user’s current context and connecting relevant information across tasks.
“As agentic AI reshapes mobile experiences, the next step is to make those experiences more intuitive and responsive to each user’s context,” said Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Intelligent eyewear creates a new point of interaction, bringing more personalized AI assistance naturally into the moments that make up everyday life.”
It is worth noting, however, that the camera was mentioned only once in Samsung’s official announcement. In light of recent privacy concerns with regard to smart glasses, and upcoming reports commissioned by the European Data Protection Board (the findings of which are expected to come out this summer and likely guide EU lawmakers’ decisions), it might be that the company is looking to downplay the glasses’ camera feature and functionality at this time. The company did note, however, that its intelligent eyewear does come with “clear controls and safeguards” to support “responsible and secure use.”
On the hardware itself, Samsung stated that it worked closely with partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to refine fit points such as the forehead and ears, and that the collaboration offers a range of frame styles, colors and lens options. The company did not disclose pricing or availability details for its new intelligent eyewear range at Unpacked.
