A World of Warcraft player took to social media to share a transmogrification set that made their character, a Blood Elf Paladin, look like Link from The Legend of Zelda franchise. The World of Warcraft fan also shared the exact weapon and armor pieces that were used in their Link-inspired outfit, and other fans complimented them for their effort and improvisation skills.
Since its introduction in the Cataclysm expansion, World of Warcraft‘s transmogrification system has seen changes and improvements following several rounds of player feedback. Following the launch of The War Within, more cosmetic options were opened up to players as low-quality items could be added to appearance collections to offer fans a simpler look. While some restrictions are in place for class sets like the ones worn by Paladins and Death Knights, the addition of the Warband system allows characters to collect appearances that other classes can subsequently use, such as a Demon Hunter’s warglaives or the cloth robes worn by Mages and Warlocks.

Drawing inspiration from Link’s appearance in games like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, a World of Warcraft player transformed their Blood Elf Paladin into an Azerothian facsimile of Hyrule’s champion. Reddit user Zer0ofTime shared their transmog set inspired by Link on the official WoW subreddit, and included a list of pieces that others can use to replicate it. Link’s hat and tunic were made from green transmog pieces previously available at the Trading Post, as the Vagabond’s Lively Hood and Classic Lively Tabard were paired with Shirtsi’s Cloth Shirt. The Serene Leggings were used as Link’s pants, and paired with other pieces like the Waste Disposal Crushers, the Leafy Educator’s Scrolls, and the Umber Quotidian Waders.
World of Warcraft Player Shares Uncanny Link Transmog Set
The Dark Ranger General’s Breastplate was hidden under Zer0ofTime’s tabard, though the quiver stood out as a reference to Link’s bow and arrow. Instead of using a cloak, Zer0ofTime attached a Treasure Nabbin’ Bag from the Greedy Emissary event as a subtle nod to Link’s inventory-hoarding tendencies throughout the Zelda series. World of Warcraft players who missed out on obtaining the Treasure Nabbin’ Bag will have another opportunity to get it once the Greedy Emissary event returns on July 1.
A Wooden Orgrimmar Shield was used as a callback to Link’s Deku Shield, and the set was brought together by a sword called Linken’s Sword of Mastery. This one-handed sword is one of the pop culture references that World of Warcraft made to the Zelda series during the Classic era, though it’s no longer obtainable in The War Within. In response, several Reddit users complimented Zero0fTime for their handiwork and clever use of old and new collectibles.
