July 23, 2026 – ENGO Eyewear, a Grenoble-based developer of smart sports eyewear, has recently announced that it has raised EUR €5.1 million in a funding round backed by Ventech, ODYSSEE Venture, and Bpifrance Amorçage Industriel.
The funding will support ENGO’s international industrial and commercial expansion, recruitment in France, and further research and development for its lightweight augmented reality (AR) eyewear. The company plans to hire 20 people in France across key engineering, software, data, and business development roles.
ENGO develops AR smart glasses for runners, cyclists, triathletes, and other endurance athletes. Its eyewear integrates a Micro-OLED display that projects live performance data into the wearer’s field of view without requiring athletes to look away.
The company’s latest device, the engo3 AR sports glasses, launched earlier this year with Garmin and Apple Watch support. The glasses feature a color-coded heads-up display that presents metrics including heart rate, pace, and power in red-to-green zones, weigh 38.5 grams, and provide more than 20 hours of battery life. ENGO designs and assembles its products in France, and currently generates 90% of its revenue outside the country.
According to ENGO’s backers, the new funding will also be used to increase research and development around display miniaturization, optics, embedded display technologies, new features, and further reductions in product weight.
Eric Marcellin-Dibon, CEO of ENGO, said, “Since ENGO’s inception, we have pursued a simple vision: enabling athletes to stay focused on their performance, not the technology. The lighter, more natural, and more intuitive our eyewear becomes, the closer we get to our goal: making the technology disappear in favour of the athletic experience.”

We are seeing growing adoption of our solutions by athletes – both amateur and professional – and now aim to take the next step in our international expansion.”
The company stated that the investment will support the continued acceleration of its industrial and commercial growth, alongside its ongoing development in France.
