This is one provocative opening into the whole Pixar-land friendship debate, where the new film is yet to introduce a pair of best friends much like Woody and Buzz or Mike and Sulley: Elio and Glordon. The movie opens on June 20 and will be shown in 3D, so audiences are already speculating about what form this new friendship will be taking, compared to classic Pixar friendships.

The post offers a sweet little glimpse into the somewhat funny and partly heartwarming relationship of Elio, a child who feels out-of-place in his world, and Glordon, an alienish sort of entity, who happens to become Elio’s very first friend. They instantly clicked, set against occasional glances of heartfelt lines like “I have never had a friend before.” This one has Pixar’s humor and heart in there, promising that it will be one for the records: laughter one moment, sniffles the next.
But not a few stand unconvinced, remaining loyal in fierce allegiance to old-time friendships. “Woody and Buzz is better than Elio in friendship forever,” one argued plainly while one more declared, “I like Woody & Buzz and Sulley & Mike way better.” It seems that one mercenary was already welded in thinking: “Nope. And I never will.” That’s, oh, so harsh.
Many still remain hyped for the new choice. “Glordon & Elio are the new duo🥹,” one fan said and another replied, “Got my RealD 3D tickets ready for opening weekend.” Other comments flooding the post include “Looking forward to the movie!!” and “I can’t wait for this movie 🙌❤️.”
Interestingly enough, it also rekindled memories for other Pixar duos. “Let’s not forget Lightning McQueen and Mater,” another pitched in, followed by shout-outs to Luca and Alberto from, well, Luca. And then, almost immediately, the summoning for sequels began—”Can we get a Cars 4?” and “Need Finding Nemo The Series,” when has that ever been spared?
The timing of the post, suspiciously close to Inside-Out-2’s 1st anniversary, had people reminiscing too. “Inside Out 2 was released one year ago today happy 1st anniversary😍❤️👏,” one comment declared, with many others agreeing. A lovely little full-circle moment if you ask their Pixar bunch.
Not everyone had nice things to say. One user especially blunt remarked, “Trash 🗑️, old movies are better,” so… okay cool opinion to have. That was parallel to another one: “People are still using the ‘trash’ buzzword?” Touché.

Whatever the case, whether you are Team Woody & Buzz or ready to adopt Elio & Glordon, Pixar’s latest seems ready to take you on a roller coaster of emotions. If history has anything to say, then we are all going to be crying buckets in the theater by the end of this movie. June 20 cannot arrive soon enough.
