Yakuza Studio New Titles Presentation Will Be Livestreamed

Yakuza has been on a tear in the West this year, with Yakuza 0 receiving rave reviews earlier this year and Yakuza Kiwami looking like it will achieve the same. And even though most audiences around the world are late to the party, it seems like Sega and Yakuza Studio will make sure they remain in the loop, as the new titles presentation that’s being held later this month will be livestreamed and viewable by everyone.

In case you missed it, Yakuza Studio announced late last month that it will be holding a new titles presentation on August 26 from 19:00 to 20:00 JST at UDX Theater in Akihabara. This announcement came after confirmation from series director Toshihiro Nagoshi that an announcement about the future of the series would be coming in two months time, promising that it would feature “stuff that’ll make people happy to hear.”

Now, fans the world over will be able to hear everything that Yakuza Studio has to say regarding the series, which is confirmed to include multiple title announcements, including “something expected,” by tuning in to YouTube, Fresh, and Niconico once the event begins.

If one were to hazard a guess about what will be announced during the event, the safest bet would be Yakuza 7. Remember, even though Yakuza 6 has yet to be released worldwide, it has been out in Japan since Dec. 8, 2016, so its definitely due for a new mainline entry. If one were to venture outside the box, then another possible guess could be a side story title featuring Goro Majima. He has always been an important character in the series and even became playable in Yakuza 0. Considering that one of the largest (and best) additions to Kiwami was a mechanic that centered around him, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for Yakuza Studio to capitalize on his current popularity by featuring him in his own game.

Regardless of what titles are announced, however, it is almost certain that audiences outside of Japan will have to wait quite some time before they can get their hands on them. Though, the wait might not be as long this time around considering that Sega has become increasingly active in releasing the series to the West and other regions. In either case, with Kiwami coming out next week and 6 coming out early next year, fans outside of Japan will definitely have a lot on their plate while they wait.
