September 18, 2025 – Meta has announced Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), the latest generation of its AI smart glasses. Unveiled during CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s keynote at the company’s Meta Connect 2025 conference this week, the latest model features extended battery life, enhanced video capabilities, and expanded language support for live translation.
The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) glasses build on the previous generation’s hands-free camera, AI assistant, real-time translation, and open-ear audio features. According to Meta, the updated model offers up to eight hours of battery life on a full charge, nearly double that of the first generation. The included charging case provides an additional 48 hours of on-the-go charging, and the glasses can reach 50% charge in 20 minutes.
The Gen 2 model introduces 3K Ultra HD video capture, supporting up to 60 frames per second and ultrawide HDR, with more than twice the pixel count of the previous version. Upcoming software updates will add hyperlapse and slow-motion video capture modes.
The glasses also feature a new conversation focus mode, which uses the glasses’ open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of a conversation partner in noisy environments. This feature is expected to be available soon as a software update for both Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN glasses.
Live translation capabilities have been expanded to include German and Portuguese, allowing for conversations between six supported languages. Offline translation will also be available in airplane mode with pre-downloaded language packs.
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) AI smart glasses are available starting at USD $379 and are available in several frame styles, including Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner, as well as new limited-edition seasonal colors.
The glasses are now also available in Switzerland and the Netherlands, with Meta stating that it will be bringing them to Brazil “soon.” The company added that it plans to launch the glasses in Mexico and India later this year.
