2 Fights 2 Tight Spaces takes the strategic deckbuilder and adds to the concept with online multiplayer and an ability to shift how a card works based on weapons. The caveat is, right now it’s still in its earliest phase. Ground Shatter released the early access build during Summer Game Fest 2026. While it can work sometimes, there are also some bugs and issues that hopefully get fixed soon before the scope gets too big.

As with Ground Shatter’s past games in the series, 2 Fights 2 Tight Spaces focuses on surviving a close quarters brawl in which more enemies will gradually spawn. Your deck represents moves you can take, which include attacks, blocks, counters, and movement actions that might see you do things like dash or pick up a weapon. The PvE co-op would allow, say, two or three folks to all be in a map at once and dealing with the objectives. However, this still can be a fully offline, single-player affair.

The way the cards can change based on weapons is probably my favorite part of this build. I love how it is possible to pick up a knife or gun and see the range and nature of multiple cards adjust to accommodate that and the new possibilities. The ranged effect seems great and like it could have huge potential. Plus, I noticed it did make me approach some fights differently.

One of my biggest issues with 2 Fights in 2 Tight Spaces has to do with one definite bug that keeps coming up in my runs and one issue that I wonder if it might be an in-progress issue. The first is that there’s a problem with the camera. A random occurrence is the camera getting stuck in a close-up. This tends to happen when I choose an action that involves a direct physical attack, such as a Choke Slam, Jumping Stab, Hook Kick, Smash and Grab, or Quick Attack. It locks in and becomes unplayable unless I completely exit out of things. Another issue is sometimes the objectives that can come up don’t feel like they are possible to complete? Like one time I had “deal 24 damage in a single attack,” but I don’t think my deck in that early phase had that capability? And another that frustrated me quite often would be “have three enemies killed by enemy attacks” come up early on with a deck that isn’t prepared for the sort of evasions and set-ups necessary to make that happen.

I also noticed multiplayer has some issues. Which is to be expected considering one of the reasons Ground Shatter even mentioned it did the early access phase is to work out issues with it. The most common problem I had when I tried to take part in some fights is actions not registering properly. I tried to limit myself to two person runs. There would be times when I’d move, but the person I played with didn’t register it. Or, more commonly, it seemed like it didn’t recognize attacks, so the person I played with might also waste an action. There were also a few crashes too, but I haven’t noticed as many since June 15, 2026.

But the other things I noticed so far are things that might get fixed as time goes on. A big one being the UI. Unlike Fights in Tight Spaces and Knights in Tight Spaces, the cards in the deck don’t have images that offer examples of what to expect from the moves. There are more basic images like fists, reticles, and arrows. I suspect this is something that could be changed, given experience with past games. That kind of additional image is helpful for accessibility and general combo creation, since everything looking the same makes it difficult to pick the right move at a glance. Some general UI tweaking so it looks better and easier to read on a Lenovo Legion Go (which is where I played) or Steam Deck would be handy too.

I think there’s potential for 2 Fights 2 Tight Spaces to grow and the existing roadmap seems solid, but it needs more time. There are some quirks and bugs in the current build, which is understandable from early access. The ability to fight with others and change up how cards in your deck work via things like weapons seem to be good additions to the formula. It could turn into a strong successor.

2 Fights 2 Tight Spaces is in early access for PCs via Steam.
