Tom Holland put his whole heart into the release announcement for The Odyssey, and you can feel it. On Instagram this week, Holland bypassed the standard promo script. The result reads more like a thank-you letter than a marketing push.
“There are movies where you are challenged and fulfilled creatively and there are jobs where you meet wonderful people,” Holland wrote. “The Odyssey is BOTH.”
Real talk: that hits different. Holland has been grinding through Hollywood since his teenage years. He spent close to a decade as the face of Spider-Man. That role made him one of the most recognizable actors on the planet. He knows what a standard film announcement looks like. The Odyssey is something else entirely.
The film is an adaptation of Homer’s ancient epic poem. Christopher Nolan directed it, with Emma Thomas producing. Nolan is one of the most celebrated filmmakers alive. His credits include the Dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer. Landing a lead in one of his films is a different tier of opportunity for any actor. Holland clearly felt that. He called out “Chris and Emma” directly in his message and described their guidance as “the opportunity of a lifetime.”

That word “shepherding” is the one to zero in on. It’s not the language of a star with everything figured out from day one. Holland leaned on the people around him. He let them guide him through a production unlike anything else in his career. He talked about the cast like mentors, not just co-workers. Not many actors carry a billion-dollar franchise. “Being a part of this epic adventure has been one of the greatest pleasures of my career,” he added. “I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.”
The post connected. Nearly two million Instagram likes came in fast. For a release day announcement, that’s a strong response. The audience was already locked in.
He closed it simply: “The Odyssey is out now! Enjoy it on every and all formats you can and I’ll see you soon.”
Here’s the bigger picture. Tom Holland is still in his late 20s. He’s already one of the biggest names in cinema. But a message like this one sends a clear signal. He’s not coasting. A project like The Odyssey changes a career’s entire story. Holland sounds aware of exactly what he was part of. And it sounds like every bit of it was worth it.
