After what feels like an eternity of leaks, rumours, and quiet industry whispers, Ubisoft has finally pulled the curtain back—at least slightly. A worldwide reveal showcase for Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced is officially locked in for April 23 at 5PM BST, and for fans of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, this is the moment things get real.

The announcement itself is classic Ubisoft—short, controlled, and deliberately vague. There’s no deep dive yet, no gameplay breakdown, and no confirmed feature list. Just a title, a time, and a promise that we’re finally going to see what this project actually is. But given the history behind this one, that’s more than enough to get the community talking.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag isn’t just another entry in the timeline. When it launched back in 2013, it reshaped expectations of what the franchise could be. The shift toward open-world naval exploration, the freedom of sailing the Caribbean, and the introduction of Edward Kenway gave the series a different kind of identity—one that still holds up today. It’s why so many players still rank it above newer entries like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and even the more back-to-basics approach of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

That legacy is exactly why the rumours of a remake have carried so much weight. These weren’t random internet guesses either. Reports dating back to 2023 pointed toward Ubisoft internally working on a full-scale rebuild of Black Flag rather than a simple remaster. Multiple industry sources suggested the game was being reworked using updated technology tied to Ubisoft’s Anvil engine, with the potential for more advanced ocean systems, improved AI, and a world that feels far more alive than the original ever could.

Still, it’s important to draw a clear line between what’s been reported and what’s actually confirmed. Ubisoft has not officially detailed any of these features. Right now, the only concrete facts are the name “Resynced,” the existence of the project, and the April 23 showcase. Everything else remains in that familiar grey area between credible leak and official confirmation.

What’s particularly interesting here is the name itself. “Resynced” isn’t just branding—it taps directly into the DNA of the Assassin’s Creed universe. Synchronisation has always been central to how these stories are told, with players reliving genetic memories through the Animus. Calling this version “Resynced” suggests this might not be a straight one-to-one remake. There’s a real possibility Ubisoft is revisiting the game with changes to how the story is presented, how progression works, or even how the modern-day narrative ties in.

Timing also plays a big role in why this is happening now. Ubisoft has been actively balancing two directions for the franchise: the large-scale RPG entries and the more focused, classic-style experiences. Bringing back Black Flag in a modern form would sit right in the middle of that strategy. It appeals to long-time fans who want that classic feel, while also giving Ubisoft room to modernise systems for a new audience.

As for the showcase itself, expectations should be grounded but optimistic. Ubisoft will almost certainly deliver a proper reveal trailer, and there’s a strong chance we’ll see in-engine or early gameplay footage alongside developer commentary. This is the moment where speculation either gets validated or completely reset. If this really is a full remake, it won’t be hard to tell.

For now, the important thing is that this project is no longer just a rumour floating around forums and insider reports. Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced is real, it’s being shown off on April 23, and after years of talk, we’re finally about to see exactly what Ubisoft has been working on.

If they get this right, they’re not just bringing back a fan favourite—they’re reminding everyone why Black Flag still stands as one of the strongest entries the series has ever had.

To get yourself ready, head over to the official YouTube page linked below and bookmark the stream. Better yet, set yourself up for a notification so you don’t miss a second of the reveal when it goes live.
