After the immense success of Troll in 2022, Netflix is set to release Troll 2 this 2025! The Troll team has already declared it to be, “…an even better, bigger, funnier, and more adventurous film – if that’s even possible!” Troll 2 is based on the Norwegian folklore of giants who are believed to live and hibernate in the Douvre Mountains. But, all hell breaks loose when it decides to wake up and wreak havoc in the nearby cities. The government calls in paleontology professor Nora Tidemann (Ine Marie Wilmann). She and her father (played by Gard B. Eidsvold) attempt to stall the Troll before it reaches Oslo, the capital.
After Troll was a great hit with the audience globally, Troll 2’s release is now grabbing eyeballs. After its release, Troll became the most-watched Netflix Original international film within the first 91 days. Troll holds the record for 103 million views in the first 91 days of its launch.
Plot & Cast
Troll 2 introduces some newer characters, while some characters return from the first film. As per the released teaser on YouTube, we can also see the introduction of not just one but two trolls this time, keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats.
Troll 2 follows the path of its predecessor, in which the trolls wake up and set off to destroy everything in their path. To rescue their country from this danger, Nora, political advisor Andreas Isaksen (Kim Falck), and army major Kristoffer Holm (Mads Pettersen) prepare for a dangerous mission. The new movie also promises more action and adventure. The Norwegian army prepares to go troll-hunting in Sunna, a military helicopter fully stocked with troll-killing weapons.
Directed by Roar Uthaug, Troll 2 cast includes some returning faces from the first film, including Ine Marie Wilmann, returning as Nora, Kim Falck returning as Andreas, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen returning as Captain Kris. A new face in the sequel is Sara Khorami as Marion.
Troll 2 Release Date & Trailer
Netflix’s confirmed the release date for Troll 2 as 1 December 2025. This movie joins the long list of Netflix releases in the Christmas month. Speaking about Troll 2, director Roar Uthaug said in a statement,
I am beyond proud of how audiences around the globe connected with the first Troll film far beyond what we imagined. With the sequel, we are aiming high – expanding the scope, deepening the story, and creating a troll-sized spectacle like you’ve never seen before. I cannot wait for fans to experience the adventure we have in store.
