Story of One Piece Season 1
Season 1 introduced us to Monkey D. Luffy, the boy with a straw hat and an impossible dream, to become King of the Pirates by finding the legendary treasure known as the One Piece. Along the way, he didn’t just fight enemies. He built a family at sea.
There’s Zoro, the fearless swordsman. Nami, the brilliant navigator with a guarded heart. Usopp, the sharpshooter with the never-ending stories. And Sanji, the cook who can both fight and cook.
They fought strong enemies and also conquered them and found the way to sail toward the Grand Line, which is feared as the most dangerous waters all over the world, yet this is the course of their biggest adventures. Here, season 2 starts, literally without missing a beat.
Release and Production
The release date remains unconfirmed, but Netflix has confirmed the season to be live in 2026, shooting has concluded early in 2025, and currently, the editing team is in the middle of post-production. The crew is busy creating huge frames of CGI, including the creation of a fan-favorite Tony Tony Chopper.
When it arrives, it will release all the episodes at once to viewers all over the world. You can watch in any language, like English, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

- Smoker is making his smoky entrance in Loguetown
- Dinosaurs roaming the prehistoric Little Garden
- Sanji is carrying a sick Nami through snowy Drum Island
- Luffy meeting Chopper for the first time

And just when fans thought that was it, the teaser ended with one more reveal. Guess what, Season 3 is already being produced.

Behind the Scenes
Filming took place at Cape Town Film Studios and across South Africa, turning real locations into the Grand Line.
The toughest part was shooting the icy Drum Island scenes, where the cast tackled freezing winds to keep the magic alive. The Chopper sequences required complex CGI and animatronics, making them some of the most ambitious shots in the show so far.
After Season 2 wrapped, co-showrunner Matt Owens stepped down for personal reasons, and Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner for Season 3.

Success of One Piece Season 1
The first season didn’t just do well, it became an instant global hit. It was number one in 75 countries. It was viewed by nearly 100 million people in just a few weeks.
Viewers enjoyed the way it retained the original story. It was due to this factor that Netflix agreed to Season 3 long before they released Season 2.
Expected Story of Season 2
Season 2 jumps right into the Grand Line, where the dangers and adventures get bigger. The crew visits places like Loguetown and Drum Island. They meet new friends and face serious challenges.
Chopper’s story is a highlight. It’s emotional and shows why he is so important to the crew. We also learn more about the Straw Hats’ pasts and the secrets of the sea.
