April 14, 2026 – Qualcomm Technologies, a provider of semiconductor and wireless technology solutions, has today announced a multi-year strategic agreement with Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Snap Inc., to power future generations of ‘Specs’ with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR system-on-a-chip (SoC) platforms.
Specs are standalone, see-through augmented reality (AR) glasses designed to integrate digital experiences into the physical world, allowing wearers to see, hear, and interact with digital content overlaid on their environment. Specs Inc. plans to launch Specs to consumers later this year, with the agreement marking the subsidiary’s first flagship engagement.
Snapdragon XR platforms will provide the computational foundation for Specs, combining edge artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance, low-power processing to enable context-aware experiences to run directly on device. According to the companies, this design supports faster and more private interactions for users.
The agreement builds on a decade-long collaboration between Snap and Qualcomm Technologies, during which Snapdragon platforms have powered multiple previous generations of Snap’s ‘Spectacles’. Through the agreement, both companies will align on long-term roadmaps and technical collaboration to bring on-device AI, graphics capabilities, and multiuser digital experiences to the Specs platform.
The companies added that the joint initiative aims to establish a scalable foundation for the growing community of developers and partners building for Specs, and will support a “predictable product cadence” as well as enable the creation of increasingly sophisticated digital experiences over time.
