Path of Exile 2 Reveals Major Loot Overhaul in Latest Patch
After fan backlash, Path of Exile 2’s latest patch includes changes to the endgame and a major loot overhaul to address core player concerns.
GGG’s next update meant to address some of these Path of Exile 2 complaints has now received a small delay and will no longer launch on the week of May 26. Instead, the developer rescheduled it for the following week. Since the ARPG’s patches are typically rolled out on weekdays, the likely launch window for the upcoming update now falls between June 2 and 6.
Path of Exile 2 0.2.1 Update Promises New Endgame Crafting Socketables and More
GGG announced the delay via a post to its official forums, which also included some new details about the game’s next patch. Among the highlights of the upcoming release are additional Path of Exile 2 crafting socketables specifically aimed at enabling more creative build options during endgame. According to the developer, the new socketables are meant to cater to players who have outgrown early-game socketable bonuses and are looking to start min-maxing their characters.
Among these upcoming additions is Hedgewitch Assandra’s Rune of Wisdom, which increases all Spell skill levels by one when socketed into a Wand or Staff. The new Path of Exile 2 update will also introduce Farrul’s Rune of the Chase and The Greatwolf’s Rune of Willpower, which enhance movement speed and damage resistance, respectively. The latter does not provide a direct defense boost; instead, it redirects 10% of incoming damage to the player’s Mana pool before applying the remaining damage to health. The update will include 22 new Runes in total. Another novelty arriving as part of the next patch is Tacati’s Soul Core of Affliction, one of the 14 new Soul Cores that can be found in the Trial of Chaos Ultimatum encounters. Meanwhile, the new Runes will only be available as world drops rather than being obtainable by upgrading any existing Runes.
