Jurard T Rexford has been with Cover and Holostars as a Vtuber for almost two and a half years now, and 2025 and 2026 proved to be busy times for the performer. In addition to his standard streams and new covers, he’s also worked on a voice drama streamed for Angat Buhay. We had a chance to go over everything he’s done lately and talk about his future.

Jenni Lada: You released both a new cover and shared a new model in April. What did the timeline look like for this, and did the design for the outfit shape your song choice or vice versa?

Jurard T Rexford: The production of the new outfit took months of planning in advance. If I remember correctly I was already brainstorming concepts around May 2025 for the new outfit direction and what I’d be doing for the course of 2026!

That also includes the cover I recently released, “Shinigami,” as part of my many projects that I plan on releasing moving forward. The reason why I wanted to cover Shinigami was because of how it tells a story that’s similar to my lore–instead of a god of death, it’s conflict with my inner demon. I had been planning to sing Shinigami as my next cover for a while now, so the outfit didn’t really impact my decision for the song choice. However, it did play a significant role in how I wanted the visuals in Shinigami to be presented, and how it can tie back to my character lore moving forward. With the new vibes, you can also expect future public lore voice packs.

How much influence did you have over your new model design?

Jurard T Rexford: While I was the one who made the initial design concept, I owe the fine-tuning to my manager and to my art mama, HABAN! My manager helped me flesh out my initial outfit idea and find references, and also made sure it was clean and presentable for my art mom. I left all the details to HABAN, and to nobody’s surprise, she made me drop dead gorgeous.

As for the outfit’s design, it was heavily influenced by one of my favorite games of late: Devil May Cry. Funnily enough, I had never played any DMC games before until recently. But when I did, I fell in love with the game’s story. I see a lot of myself in Dante–a fun-loving rebel with a complicated family history–especially in the sibling rivalry between him and his twin brother Vergil (I’m a twin myself).

But yeah, who would have thought that Jurard T Rexford, the dual pistol-wielding bounty hunter from the Bandlands with demonic dinosaur powers and a mysterious noble background, would have so much in common with DMC’s Dante! A very unexpected but welcome coincidence!

Devil May Cry inspiration aside, I also wanted an outfit that didn’t look too loud and energetic compared to my first outfit. I have been wanting to steer my branding towards a slightly more serious version of myself for the sake of my health and career–being the loud dinosaur prince of ARMIS is great, but it’s not always sustainable for my voice. Having my new outfit match this vision helps me a lot with this pivot, so that’s why this means much more to me than JUST a new outfit reveal–it reflects what I want to do in the future here in Holostars.

What does the process look like for you when preparing to pick out a cover and record it? I know you’ve occasionally done streams where you actually do vocal coach homework practicing as part of unarchived singing performances.

Jurard T Rexford: Song choices for me are very important, and are heavily influenced by my desire to craft a story. Have you ever imagined an anime opening with your OC’s story in the music video? That’s what I do. I pick songs to cover carefully based on what I feel fits my lore the best, so each new release is tied in some way to my character’s development.
One thing that I also pay attention to is bringing my own personal touches to the final cover. Be it art direction, flow, or style, I don’t want to make one-to-one copies of the original. Just like what I did with Shinigami and my other covers, I want the covers to be so distinct, you know it’s MINE.

For example, last year I released covers that featured animations of myself and ARMIS in the music videos – “Bling Bang Bang Born” and “Otonoke.” I did that because I felt that the themes in these songs aligned really well with my character and relationship with my friends.

Adding these tiny little details encourages me to sing more because I have always loved writing stories, and the thought of doing that helps push me out of my comfort zone, no matter how small that first step is. I even started going to a vocal coach even though it was a bit scary at first!

When I debuted, I had told myself that I was never going to sing again after releasing my cover of “Jenny,” but over the years I’ve realized it’d be a waste of an opportunity not to do so. I’m sure my past self would be so surprised by the number of songs I’ve covered since then!

Back in November 2025, you put together Twilight of the End, a voice drama that also starred other Holostars and Hololive members. What led to you working on that project, and what was the experience like?

Jurard T Rexford: I love voice acting and writing stories, and have wanted to pursue this creative endeavor even before Holostars! Now that I’m here, a lot of opportunities have opened up— I was introduced to the world of Elysium, for example. The lore of the Holostars universe has untapped potential and I want to slowly uncover its secrets with the help of my friends in both Holostars and Hololive to make it even livelier. In the future I’d love to continue adding more characters, even beyond those within the company.

Although the storylines in my voicepacks are not canon to official Hololive lore, I think they make great jumping off points for when and how they could possibly interact in our universe. Typically you’d hire writers for this kind of stuff, but I think it’s more fun writing about what I want the characters to experience myself–it feels more personal that way. I also sound engineer everything myself, so doing everything from start to finish gives me a greater sense of ownership and control over the entire project!

But the credit doesn’t all go to me of course, it’s also thanks to the very talented artists who work on the key visuals for the project! In a way, this is also how I try to support my artists in my community. It’s always nice when I can include them into bigger projects while also paying for their hard work. I can’t help but snatch artists when I see good art!

Do you think you’d work on another voice drama like that again?

Jurard T Rexford: Absolutely. This is a long-term project of mine and I don’t plan on stopping it anytime soon. But these projects always take a long time to cook since they need a lot of love and attention!

In addition to making sure that the plot ties back to my character’s development, it’s also important to coordinate with the other cast members on their schedules so that we can account for potential retakes and script rewrites. These all affect our release and promotional schedule, so although it’s complicated it’s worth it in the end!

You have some independent voice packs on the way. When did you start working on those, and what can folks expect from those performances?

Jurard T Rexford: As mentioned previously, I am looking to involve more of my coworkers in future voice projects, but as of right now I am most excited to work with my genmates to continue expanding on the voice trailer that I had released as part of my outfit reveal. I’m still working on it but the one thing you KNOW is that it will be absolute cinema.

Do you have any other performances or projects you’re preparing right now?

Jurard T Rexford: Other than voicepacks, I have a lot of things in store for the Starmins, Sorawrity and of course my Xiaorawrity (I have exciting plans for my first Bilibili anniversary…). I won’t spoil much but BIG THINGS are gonna happen. A bunch of special collabs, voice content and a LOT of singing in the coming months.

The boys and I are also working with our management team on something fun for the fans!

You held a 12-hour charity stream at the end of 2025 to benefit people who had been affected by the Philippines super typhoons. How did you decide on the charity Angat Buhay, prepare for an endurance stream like that, and pull together everything to make that happen?

Jurard T Rexford: I just wanted to help people. A good chunk of my fanbase lives in the Philippines, and that is no easy thing right now especially with all the economic and political challenges people face there. I really just wanted to contribute in some way, even if just a little, to supporting the people affected by the disaster.

I also wanted to make this event a memorable and entertaining one, since the donations were from everyone’s hard earned money– I wanted to make sure that their donations meant something, and that people would not regret supporting this charity event. That’s why I made sure to include special mini blocks within the stream, like featuring special guests, karaokes, games with the other Stars EN boys, and participation from my community.

Honestly, preparing for a 12-hour event like that requires a lot of scheduling and willingness from the guests’ side to make time, which wasn’t easy especially at the end of the year!

But hey, it worked out really nicely in the end, so thank you to everyone who came by to hang out and support, I couldn’t have done it without you!

We chose Angat Buhay because of their transparency in how they use their donations. They show receipts, give updates, and are generally well regarded by locals as a reliable and transparent organization. As a guy who slays corruption beasts, I HATE corruption the most, so we did our best to find the most reliable non-government organization out there.

In the end we raised over half a million Philippine pesos (approximately $9,000 USD at the time of transfer) during this stream and it was amazing. I’m so proud of what we managed to accomplish together!

With everything you’ve learned from that charity stream, what would you do differently next time and how would you approach a future outreach endeavor?

Jurard T Rexford: It was fun and a good learning experience for me as a content creator with this platform and level of influence! I just proved to the world that I am capable of creating a unique and meaningful experience not just for laughs, but for helping people too.

What do you think you’re most looking forward to on the horizon for 2026, and what would you like to see happen in 2027?

Jurard T Rexford: One of my goals for 2026 is to figure out how to make myself even more well known. The more exposure I can get, the more I’ll be able to put into my projects and serve the public. Creating content has always been my passion and I will not disappoint you. Make me the most subscribed Holostar out there! And as for 2027… Starmins, you’re gonna see something BIG. A SUPER SECRET THING THAT I CAN’T TALK ABOUT… You’re gonna have to stay subscribed for more information on that one… OooOoo you want to subscribe ooOoooO. But until then, no, even after then, support us with all your might!

Jurard T Rexford streams on YouTube, and the Holostars Vtuber is also active on social media.
