Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, A Minecraft Movie is expected to land on Max when its current theatrical run is over sometime in late May or early June.
A Max subscription (available through DirecTV, Prime Video, Sling and other streamers) is required to stream A Minecraft Movie, and the streamer starts at $9.99 per month with ads. Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre), A Minecraft Movie follows four oddballs (Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen and Emma Myers) who find themselves in the bizarre Overworld after being pulled through a mysterious portal. Now stuck in a world of cubes, our four heroes have to pull together and use their imaginations to find a way home. However, during their adventure, the foursome befriends Steve (Jack Black), a crafter who has been stuck in the Overworld for decades.
The movie also stars Jennifer Coolidge and others. It runs one hour and 41 minutes.
