Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 release: Everything we know about the next update

Players have been firing blasters and swinging Lightsabers at each other during Galactic Battle, the latest Star Wars-themed Fortnite season. 

Considering how short this season is, we expect Epic Games’ next Fortnite update to include a sizable upgrade in terms of new weapons, regions, and gameplay mechanics. 

We’ve sorted through the rumours to get you up to speed on Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4. Here’s what you can look forward to when the next season drops.

We expect Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 to release on June 7, 2025. 

The Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 release date is believed to be June 7, 2025, due to this being when the current season, Galactic Battle, is set to wrap. With five Star Wars-themed updates over five weeks, Galactic Battle’s battle pass will keep you busy until its end on June 7, 2025. A final end-of-season narrative event will wrap it up and send players into the next season after a period of downtime. This downtime is expected to last a few hours based on previous seasons. A June 8 release is unlikely, considering how long the downtime would be in that case.

It’s believed Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 will be about superheroes. 

Based on the rumours, we expect Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 to be superhero-themed with original character designs and devastating powers that can make short work of opponents. Considering this concept is ripe for collaborations, we wouldn’t be surprised if popular comic book heroes appear in the new update. Expect more concrete information to arrive near Season 4’s release date.

Superhero abilities are said to be the big new addition to Season 4.

If original powers form the core of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4, rare gear could be tied to quests or specific locations like Galactic Battle’s unique Lightsaber variants. This could even be a Mythic item like Thanos’ Gauntlet. And if a collaboration with DC is in the cards, players can expect familiar bosses and NPCs who drop exclusive loot in the new season. 

This would also imply a new Fortnite map peppered with characters from different worlds and multiverses. A FortniteLeaks subreddit post also points to recent Fortnite skin surveys that included superhero skins to indicate the next season’s theme. 

If powers take precedence over traditional weapons regarding combat effectiveness, expect the Fortnite gameplay meta to shift towards obtaining these powers by any means necessary. We’ll better understand these design decisions once Epic Games reveals Season 4’s major changes.

We’ve speculated on hero abilities coming to Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4, rumoured to see superhuman powers replacing some of the best Fortnite weapons. It’s believed that these abilities will not use ammo, and will be regular and high-tier drops, which could speed up play and make for more aggressive moments on the battlefield with this restriction lifted. 

We’ve seen abilities like this implemented into Fortnite, such as with the Earth, Water, Air, and Firebending from the Elements special event from April 2024. Similarly, the previous Fortnite season, Lawless, featured powers based on Sub-Zero and Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat series, which were among the best pickups to use in the game at that point. The likes of Spider-Man and anime heroes were also a focus in Chapter 4 Season 2 from April 2023 as well. 

Current Fortnite leaks and rumours claim Season 4 will revolve around DC Comics. 

Leakers FNBRintel and ShiinaBR reported on a potential collaboration between Fortnite and DC to bring Superman into the game. FNBRintel’s post on X points to a “unique mythic where you’ll have some of Superman’s powers.” This mechanic may tie into the upcoming Superman movie. 

Other leaks suggest that Superman’s Fortress of Solitude may replace the Masked Meadows. But I’d suggest taking these Fortnite leaks with a grain of salt, as these predictions aren’t always accurate. Fortunately, you’ll only have to wait a few weeks to find out.
