EA will be shutting down yet another one of its games on December 19, with the 2019 Grid game next on the chopping block. EA has shut down all kinds of games throughout 2025, starting off the year with a flurry of shutdowns that largely impacted its mobile games. In fact, by the time the first month of the year was over, EA had already shut down a whopping nine games.
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour and The Simpsons: Tapped Out were the biggest losses in January, with the sting from the latter still felt to this day. There are still Simpsons: Tapped Out fans mourning the loss of their game, refusing to delete the app and holding out hope that one day EA might change its tune and bring the game back in an official capacity. It’s highly unlikely EA will resurrect any of the games it shuts down, unless it remasters or remakes them, and unfortunately, the same will likely be true for the next shutdown.
GRID Legends: Best Drift Cars, Ranked
Drifting in GRID Legends isn’t always an easy feat, but these cars make it a breeze.
When is Grid Shutting Down?
So far, there is only one EA game confirmed to be shutting down in December 2025. On December 19, EA will shut down the 2019 Grid game, bringing an end to the racing title’s online services. Developed by Codemasters, the 2019 Grid game earned relatively mixed reviews, but it also managed to pick up an award for Best Racing Game at Gamescom in the year of its release. Grid will still be playable offline, but its online modes and features will effectively cease to exist on December 19. Needless to say, anyone interested in playing Grid to its fullest is running out of time to do so and will want to prioritize the game while the servers are still live.
It’s incredibly sad whenever a game is shut down, but the good news is that the Grid series has a more modern representation that will remain online after December 19. The latest entry in the series is 2022’s Grid Legends, which earned slightly more positive reviews than the 2019 Grid game. Grid Legends‘ online modes will remain online for the foreseeable future, with no shutdown plans announced at the time of this writing.

It’s entirely possible that more EA games will be shut down before the year is out, but it does actually seem like fans are in the clear until 2026. So far, two EA games are confirmed to be shutting down in the new year, with Anthem closing its doors on January 12 and NBA Live 19 servers going offline on January 30. The latter will mean that no EA-published basketball game has an active online mode available, while the former means that one of BioWare’s games will no longer exist. Anyone interested in playing either of those EA-published games will want to make sure that they do so soon, though keep in mind that the 2019 Grid game will be the first to go.
