Cardi B’s loyal supporters have made it clear that they wanted no less than ‘drama school’ as the official theme for her ‘Little Miss Drama’ tour and the final result turned out to be just that—a triumphant ‘drama school’ theme. The official organizational release sparked a heated debate, which occasionally turned into criticism among her fans, with some of them backing the artistic direction widely while others questioning the connection between the new album and that theme in a skeptical manner. The account on Instagram called ‘AM I THE DRAMA?’ was the one to take the lead and give to the Bardi Gang the important info with a post that read, ‘CATEGORY IS: THE DRAMA SCHOOL. The official suggested dress code for the LITTLE MISS DRAMA tour is drama school. Pull out your skirts, glasses, vests, etc!’ Along with the post was a photo of a very young Cardi B who had to wear the classics as a school girl, including a schoolgirl-like outfit with a pleat skirt and knee-high socks among others. The picture clarified what was the suggested clothing and also nicely fitted the scene.
The opinions on the theme already were very diverse. Many people showed themselves to be very supportive of the idea and were looking forward to an event where the audience would be dressed in the same way as the performer. One person even exclaimed, ‘Okay, I actually love this! I love concerts having themes so much,’ and another user showing a picture of a similar outfit, declared, ‘Dressing just like this! Also, for my hair! I just need the BAG.’ Besides this, the theme also gave rise to predictions of its economic impact, with one user remarking, ‘SHEIN and fashionova about to eat good,’ which shows that fast-fashion retailers will certainly take advantage of the trend.
However, not everybody was enamored with the ‘school of drama’ concept ? The most likely problem was the link that critics saw between the theme and the new album by Cardi B called ‘Little Miss Drama.’ One critic asked bluntly, ‘What does this have to do with the album?’ This was also the opinion of others who considered the theme weak or just missing the point. The debate even included a discussion of the practicalities. As the fans were making their plans, there was some comedy along the way. It was even recommended that one of the elements of the theme be pregnancy—this would subtly allude to Cardi’s own recent pregnancy rumors—and one person comically said, ‘We all gonna be cute and preg for the night.’ Another user proposed a very straightforward and definite color scheme: ‘The colors must be black and red.’ Her fans have also been sharing their wild suggestions for the tour.
