Team Beef, known for its standalone VR ports of classic games, is working on a VR version of Counter-Strike 1.6 for Quest and Pico headsets.
FACTS
Team Beef has announced CSVR, an unofficial VR port of Counter-Strike 1.6 designed for standalone VR headsets.
Development is already underway, following an extensive research and planning phase to determine the best way to adapt the game for virtual reality.
According to the announcement, the first development build will soon be published on Team Beef’s Patreon page. Quest 3, 3S, 2, and Pro headsets, as well as the Pico 4 Ultra, Pico 4, and Pico Neo 3, will be supported from the beginning. Early versions of Team Beef VR ports are typically only available on Patreon before the full version is released for free on SideQuest.
CSVR is planned to have full cross-platform multiplayer support. This means that VR players will be able to compete against PC players. VR users will also be able to host servers, spawn bots, and use a keyboard – all directly within the VR headset.
The VR port is based on the Xash3D FWGS engine and Velaron’s multiplatform client, both of which are available on GitHub.
The current alpha version does not yet support motion controls. However, this feature is planned for the final version.
