August 25, 2026 – W4 Games, a company that provides enterprise technology and support for the open-source Godot Engine, including extended reality (XR) and immersive technology development, has today announced it has raised USD $18 million in Series B funding to accelerate its international presence.
The company stated that the funding will help to expand W4 Games’ international team by 50%, accelerate development of its enterprise offering, and support growing demand from enterprise developers using Godot. The round was led by Tencent, with support from other investors including OSS Capital, LUX, Naval Ravikant and Tobias Lutke’s family office. W4 Games added that this latest Series B round brings its total funding raised to date to $33 million.
Alongside the funding round, W4 Games has signed a multi-year strategic partnership with Tencent to help scale its business and the Godot ecosystem in Asia. Under the agreement, the two companies will work to expand the reach of Godot Engine among enterprises, video game studios and developers across the region, including through go-to-market initiatives, localization, ecosystem support, advocacy and market development.

W4 Games was founded by core Godot developers and contributors to bring Godot Engine to the enterprise market. According to the company, its work spans XR and immersive technologies, including engine-level OpenXR and Android XR support, alongside professional services for Godot adoption and production, platform and console porting, and premium support for enterprise teams running Godot in production.
Godot Engine is an open-source video game engine that offers flexible, permissive licensing. According to W4 Games, the engine has emerged as a “leading open-source alternative” to proprietary video game engines, and is supported by a rapidly expanding global developer community.

SteamDB data shows the number of Godot games published on Steam grew by more than 50% year-on-year in both 2024 and 2025. W4 Games also stated that its own analysis of Gamalytic data indicated the number of Godot games generating more than $1 million in annual sales has risen from two to more than 50 in the past three years.
W4 Games stated that it expects its contribution to the Godot Engine project to continue growing alongside its enterprise business. The company added that improvements developed through its work with enterprise customers are, wherever possible, contributed upstream to Godot, so as to benefit the wider developer community.
