League of Legends is over fifteen years old now – yes, that one hurt me, too. As a result, it runs on pretty much everything; I spent my glory years playing on my MacBook pro with Dr Dre Beats headphones and a crappy gaming mouse. Unironically, that’s when I reached my peak rank, depressing as that sounds. If you’re new to the MOBA, or have downloaded it once again following a ragequit and uninstall, we’ve got a full list of the League of Legends system requirements for both Windows and Mac, as well as a link to our handy benchmarking tool to see whether or not your PC is up to snuff.
League of Legends requirements: Windows
Here are the League of Legends system requirements for PC:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
| CPU |
Intel: Core i3-530 AMD: A6-3650 |
Intel: Core i5-8250 AMD: Ryzen 3 1200 |
| GPU |
GeForce 400 Series AMD: HD 6570 |
Nvidia: GeForce 560 AMD: Radeon HD 6950 |
| GPU Features | DX11-Level Hardware | DX11-Level Hardware |
| VRAM | 1GB | 2GB |
| Storage Space | 16GB HDD | 16GB SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 (Build 19041+), Windows 11TPM 2.0 must be enabled |
Windows 11 TPM 2.0 must be enabled |
| RAM | 2GB | 4GB |
As expected these are all relatively low, with the only recent change to the minimum requirements being the need for DirectX 11 and a TPM 2.0-enabled OS. The latter is required to ensure baseline security, as it works in tandem with Riot’s anti-cheat system, Vanguard, to verify system integrity and minimize cheating. This requirement was added with Vanguard’s introduction back in 2024, and can be found in Riot’s sister FPS, Valorant, as well as myriad other online games like Call of Duty and Counter-Strike 2.
League of Legends system requirements: Mac
MacOS’ League of Legends system requirements are in the table below:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
| CPU |
Intel: Core i5-750 Apple: M1 |
Intel: Core i5-3300 Apple: M1 |
| GPU | Any GPU that supports Metal versions, such as: MTLGPUFamilyCommon2 MTLGPUFamilyApple4 MTLGPUFamilyMetal3 MTLGPUFamilyMac2 |
AMD: Radeon HD 6950 Intel: Intel UHD 630 Integrated Graphics |
| VRAM | 1GB | 2GB |
| Storage Space | 12GB HDD | 16GB SSD |
| OS | macOS 10.15 | macOS 11 |
| RAM | 2GB | 4GB |
Note that, per Riot’s official page, minimum specifications across both Mac and Windows can change, but they say they will “try to broadcast incoming min specs changes a few months in advance to give everybody time to prepare.”
Is League of Legends on Steam Deck?
League of Legends is not compatible with Steam Deck. You can only play League on Windows or Mac OS – Riot doesn’t support Linux, Bazzite OS, or Steam OS. Given that League of Legends (and all of Riot’s games) are only available via either the developer’s specific client or the Epic Games Store, I doubt we’ll see this change anytime soon.
