This Schwartz and Company improv piece has resulted in big trouble for the mostly calm public as laugher kept breaking out in every venue the video was watched. The video, uploaded by Rejected Jokes, showcases Schwartz, Lauren Lapkus, Gil Ozeri, and others, riffing about the Grapevine, yes, that stretch of road in California, and somehow turning it into this strangely funny mess with raisins, Motown, and existential dread.

The premise was a mistaken identity scenario as to what really is the Grapevine. “You know the Grapevine is like a way to get to oh high and it’s always annoying,” one of them throws in, initiating all sorts of chaos. It’s basically selling the idea of a raisin being tortured by the sun, making him prematurely dance, and the gruesome solution of killing a “specific child” instead. This level of crazy improv retorts makes you question if these people even function in society-would make you want to be there and experience it.
Even in the comment section, people are going crazy. One said, “choked on rice watching this,” while another reported laughing so hard that they probably appeared insane in public. A super fan pleaded for a whole Netflix series saying, “Please let us watch the whole thing. Please make a series on Netflix or whatever so I can watch 10 hours of this.” (By the way, Schwartz has “Middleditch and Schwartz” on Netflix with Thomas Middleditch, so pretty much, if you want some of this vibe, it’s out there.)
Gil Ozeri is soaking up a lot of appreciation too. “Gil is the gift that keeps on giving,” one comment underlined, while another asserts, “They don’t call him Wildcard Ozeri for nothin.” His random interjections—like wondering about the California Raisins cartoon-are the very best in the eyes of many viewers.
It feels like a nightmare, a really good one. Those are the jokes where no one actually thinks about it; just a bunch-a-funny folks throwing ideas back and forth until something ridiculous sticks. Judging by the response, it works.
If you want to amp up your dose of madness, the crew will be on tour this August in LA and Oakland. Tickets can be purchased at RejectedJokes.com, which, based on this clip, will surely be an adventure.

In the meantime, we just will keep rewatching this clip while trying to keep ourselves from spitting out our drinks with the image of “raisins dancing” in our minds. Because honestly, right?
