Luke Skywalker still holds one of the greatest titles that one can ever dream of, ever created in the movie lineage, says the legendary actor while sharing a mysterious snippet about the project with a caption reading ‘We’re just getting started. #TheLongWalk.’ An eerie voice-laden intro sets the tone for what might well be a gripping thriller: “Rule number one. Have a plan.”

The Long Walk has often been adapted from the 1979 dystopian novel by King under a pseudonym, Richard Bachman. It deals with a gruesome annual contest in which a hundred young boys trek through the world without stopping- one warning for slowing down, and a third warning is it for you… forever. Cooper Hoffman, son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, is also attached to the project.
The reactions ranged from legitimate excitement to total disbelief. One user almost went ballistic: “im so excited im gonna FREAK OUT,” whereas another stated at the same time, “Why Mark’s voice scares me!!”- some of our loved ones can certainly chill the bone when they step into the darker things.
Others got creative, suggesting a ‘5k walk to promote this movie for fun! but of course a safe version lol,’ while another took a funny jab at the source material with “Rule 13; conserve energy whenever possible.”
A heavy dose of nostalgia hits for those in the King circle. “I was thinking about the novella of this recently, and now Luke Skywalker is staring in an adaptation, unimaginable,” one user spilled, capturing the surreal merging of a sci-fi royalty with a horror artist in one sentence.

Now that Hamill has put his name to the adaptation, this ranks among one of the most anticipated book adaptations of recent times. But with that said, the cult following of King is going to make The Long Walk something you really want to miss. And if the reactions cast so far are any indication, the audience is ready to embark on the journey, no matter how grim it turns out to be.
