Christina Hendricks has now been working herself yet again, and the fans are going practically mad. The actress gave it away that season 2 episodes of The Buccaneers were now streaming on Apple TV+, and just imagine-the excitement! Accompanying the announcement was a glam shot with an ocean of drama and floral energy.

Pops of colorful flowers frame all against a vibrant blue carpet. With a potent backdrop looming behind, it almost invites viewers for a high-society garden party. Being the fashion icon she is, Hendricks finished her look with a gorgeous black ensemble almost entirely embroidered with floral and vine motifs. This is an outfit that stops you in your tracks, smart, complex, a little heavy on “extra.” Opposite to this appearance in stark contrast, her co-star was clad in a simple-yet-chic-especially good-looking white dress with sheer black socks and heels. Then, emblazoned in bold white capital letters, the show title, THE BUCCANEERS, demands to be recognized.
The comments are chaotic-good. One commenter suddenly claimed to be “completely hooked” on the show and counting the days until next week’s episode. Another commented that Wednesday was now sneaking its way to the top of his list of favorite days of the week because of the show. And then another just couldn’t stop talking about the costumes and sets, labeling them “obsession worthy.” And can I just admit it? I feel the same.
Then not all comments were directed to the show, as one particularly bold voice went off about Hendricks herself, suggesting that that lady must be “swarmed by men like wasps with honey.” A little weird? Maybe. But hey, the internet isn’t going to change. Another user then took a really cryptic route: “4ever AMEN 🙏 Christiana 👏👏AMEN.” Nothing else. No explanation.
Then there was that punster who simply couldn’t resign himself: “A Buck-an-Ear .. It seems Awfully Expensive for Corn .. Don’t You Think?” Money!
Based on Edith Wharton’s unfinished novel, The Buccaneers follows a group of young American women trying to find love and society in 1870s England. Season 1 was a great success, perfectly balanced between romance, scandal, and gorgeous period finds. With Season 2 now out, the drama picks up again; if these premiere photos say anything about it, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.
Hendricks, the one who made Joan Holloway a reality in Mad Men, would consign the indifference of the shyest actresses who portray fast and willful women. In The Buccaneers, she is Mrs. St. George, a mother trapped in the cross currents of high society’s ruthless politics. Judging by the love showered upon this character and its portrayal, the audience really found themselves drawn.
