PlayStation VR2 is out of stock on Sony’s own US store, and one of its bigger online shooters stopped working on September 17. As of September 18, PlayStation Direct’s PS VR2 page lists the headset at $399 as “Currently Unavailable”, while the $49.99 Sense controller charging station next to it can still be added to a cart.

Sony has not said why the headset is unavailable or when it will return. For now, it is a headset you cannot order from Sony in the US.
Target is out of stock too
The shortage is not limited to Sony’s store. Target’s PS VR2 listing also showed the headset as out of stock on September 18, with both shipping and in-store pickup unavailable. Between them, the two listings cover Sony’s own shop and one of the largest US retail chains.
Neither page gives a restock date, and Sony has not commented on PS VR2 stock. The headset itself has not been discontinued: the PlayStation Direct page is still live, with the price and product details in place.
The $399 listing reflects Sony’s permanent PS VR2 price cut in March 2025, which took the headset down from $549.99. Anyone who wants one from Sony has to wait for the store page to change, or take a chance on the used market.
Firewall Ultra is gone for good
Owners got a second piece of bad news on September 17. A notice Sony later added to its original Firewall Ultra launch post: “Online features for Firewall Ultra will be terminated and will no longer be available on September 17, 2026.”
Because the tactical shooter needs a connection to play at all, the notice adds that it “will no longer be playable” from 10:00am PDT that day, which is 17:00 UTC. Firewall Ultra launched in August 2023 at $39.99 for the Standard Edition and $59.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, and those purchases now open a game that cannot be played.
The end was a long time coming. Developer First Contact Entertainment announced its closure in December 2024, although the game still received an unexpected update in January 2025. Sony’s notice does not mention refunds.
Into the Radius 2 moves to October 8
PS VR2 owners waiting for Into the Radius 2 also have a new date. The survival shooter was due on September 24, as CM Immersive game director Aleksei Shulga wrote on the PixelArena.io in August, and the PlayStation Store listing now shows October 8.
“During the final certification stage, we identified a few things that still need attention,” CM Immersive told UploadVR in an emailed statement, adding that it wants the PS VR2 version to be “in the best possible shape” before players jump in. The PC version is unaffected: it came out on Steam on April 23 and sells there for $39.99 in the US. The PlayStation Store listing does not show a PS VR2 price yet.
So a PS VR2 owner in the US ends the week with one fewer online shooter and a two-week wait for a new one. Anyone hoping to join them needs a headset first, and as of September 18, Sony’s US store is not selling one.
