The Little Nightmares series has become a dark delight for horror fans around the world, drawing millions of minds into the perilous grasp of the Nowhere. Today, the newest game in the series, Little Nightmares III, arrives for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Xbox on PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. And for the first time, you’ll be able face your childhood fears with a friend thanks to the online co-op feature.

    Low and Alone

You’ll play as Low and Alone, two children trapped in a world they’re desperate to escape. They know each other so well, they can practically communicate without words.

They’ve discovered a way to travel through certain mirrors that send them to different areas, but each one is far apart and there’s no going back once they’ve tumbled out.

To help you find your way through the horrors of Little Nightmares III, here’s a quick guide to the locations you’ll explore as Low and Alone make their way deeper into the Spiral – a cluster of disturbing places – in your search for a way out of the Nowhere.

    The Necropolis

A massive, ancient city in the middle of a windswept desert, the Necropolis used to be home to the Dwellers. Now, it seems that nothing remains of them except ruins and a few strange statues scattered about.

Here, you’ll find feather umbrellas that will allow Low and Alone to ride the updrafts that turn the remaining windmills that power the city.

Hidden among the clay urns and complex machinery are the hives of Beetles, enormous insect threats that must be shot down by Low’s arrows and crushed with Alone’s wrench.

The Necropolis is a massive playground for Monster Baby; you’ll need to stay out of her eager clutches or you’ll both become her little toys…

    The Candy Factory

This smoking behemoth of a factory is the domain of the Supervisor, who oversees production of an endless supply of sticky, sickly sweets. From her nest of surveillance monitors, she watches over the endless maze of machines, ready to snatch any interlopers who would dare to put grit in the gears.

In the bowels of the facility where her cameras don’t reach, hordes of parasitic Candy Weevils have massed to feed on the remains of old stock. In spite of their name, they’re not picky and they’ll swarm anything that gets in their way, so you’ll need to find ways to use light to keep them at bay.

The production line is manned by the Herds, barely sentient workers who think only of their next vacation. They’re too bored witless to notice that there’s a special ingredient in every hunk of sugary delusion that comes off the conveyor belt.

    The Vault of Curiosity

This sprawling museum seems to be a collection of trinkets and history from all across the Nowhere. Its original curators have vanished without a trace, with no lights remaining, leaving only a simple flashlight to guide your way through the dust and spiderwebs.

Here you’ll see some familiar faces if you’ve survived other games in the series. A small collection of Nomes now inhabit the nooks and crannies of the Vault. If they know who made this place, they aren’t talking.

You can explore other mysteries about the Nowhere here, if you can solve the strange puzzles that lock parts of the museum away from visitors.

Perhaps this was once a sideshow attraction, now left to rot by the restless audience of…

    The Carnevale

All the fun and frivolity the Spiral can afford is here on the rainy boardwalks of the Carnevale. This creaking, clattering collection of carnival rides and games is host to those members of the Herd to have survived to reach their day off from the Factory.

Sadly for them, it’s not all fun and games. With their senses distracted by the flickering lights and sugary snacks, no one notices when their members are ruthlessly culled by all manners of midway mishaps and dragged off to a sinister end.

Low and Alone will have to avoid these hapless rubes as well as the malicious Puppets who run the stalls along the main thoroughfare. Those tiny terrors don’t appreciate anyone who distracts their marks, and they’re not afraid to give any interlopers the old heave-ho.

All of these wooden carnies work alongside the Kin, the ringmaster of the show. Both the main attraction and its true beneficiary, the Kin lives through his audience. He captures Low and Alone to add to his array of freaks, and they’ll have to work together to avoid dying on the stage.

    The Institute

At the heart of the Spiral, there is a distortion. An unreal reality that lives crouched in the depths of the jungle. When Low and Alone arrive there, it is an old, decrepit and abandoned institute. This place is like a well-known face seen through a dark mirror – only barely recognizable.

The jungle has wound its way into the veins of the facility: beautiful and deadly carnivorous flowers lurk among the invading foliage, waiting to snap their tendrils around any tender neck that wanders by.

The original staff of the hospital aren’t going to succumb without a fight, though. Attentive Nurses still occupy the more intact portions of the campus, still waiting for someone to treat.

A greater menace lurks somewhere even deeper within the dank passageways. But to learn more, you’ll need to survive the experience for yourself.

    Play The Nightmare Today

This is only the start of your adventures together in the Nowhere. If Little Nightmares III is your first time visiting, don’t worry: each story stands alone, so you can play in any order. If you are missing a friend to join you in online co-op, you can pick your favorite character and your partner will play using artificial intelligence, or you can join the official Little Nightmares Discord to find a buddy to play with!

If you still aren’t convinced, try the free Necropolis Demo today. We’re certain once you lose yourself in this world, you’ll never want to wake up.

Little Nightmares III is available today on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox on PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. You can tell yourself you won’t be afraid, but we know the truth.

Working together, they’ve become adept at sneaking through hidden passages, hoisting each other over massive obstacles, and watching each other’s backs.

Whether you’re playing with a friend or an A.I. companion, you’ll depend on each other’s iconic items to create opportunities and to progress. The environment is full of clues and possibilities for imaginative children to exploit. Low’s arrows can reach high targets, cut through ropes, or down flying enemies, and Alone’s wrench is just the thing for crushing stunned enemies, smashing through barriers, or manipulating the workings of massive machines.

EMBARK ON AN IMMERSIVE AND DISTURBING ADVENTURE

No matter where you go, the Nowhere is home to horrific monsters. These Residents won’t hesitate to go out of their way to capture any intrusive little Visitors that draw their attention. You might find yourself playing a terrifying game of hide and seek with Monster Baby in the sandy ruins of the Necropolis, struggling to avoid swarms of voracious Candy Weevils in an unsetling Candy Factory, or dodging heavy feet while running along the rain-soaked promenade of a filthy funfair.

You’ll need to be ready to run, hide, or even defend yourself at a moment’s notice to stay in one piece.

    SINK INTO THE SPIRAL

Don’t be too distracted by the desolate beauty of the Nowhere. There are dark mysteries waiting for you as Low and Alone follow their mirror path across the Spiral. As each new location will become more dangerous and disturbing than the last, traumatic flashes from the past will begin to emerge. Will Low and Alone finally escape from this unending nightmare? Only you can help them, little ones…
