Being a treat for the London hotel audience, the hype campaign around Superman somehow hadn’t reached every individual’s heart. Though the catchy image accompanies James Gunn, in outrageously colorful and dynamic form, himself pointing at the camera with the quote: “London! See you there today! ❤️💛💙” with the hashtag #Superman. It is one massive promotion: Gunn with a big, happy smile from ear to ear, like he was just about to drop the biggest superhero film of the decade, which might as well be true given the recent troubled existence of DC Cinematic Universe.

People have started stirring the pot of excitement, while some have already set their arguments ablaze in the comment section below. One heater of a comment came in, reading, “This is gonna flop so bad. It will make money I am sure but it will be a complete disaster review-wise.” Ouch. That kind of negativity is, somehow, pretty much the norm in DC fandom these days, especially as Gunn enters the picture to reboot the universe after strongly divisive Zack Snyder days.
Snyder, well, his shadow lingers in the replies. One fan voiced, “At least Snyder had an interesting vision for the character,” to another’s response, “Those movies are just ripoffs of better movies… and really hideous to look at.” The conversation on Snyder’s Superman—in particular, that is, Henry Cavill‘s incarnation of the role—keeps popping up, with one uttering, “Nah, I’ll rewatch Henry Cavill Superman in Man of Steel instead.”
Some are struggling hard against the drama and want to show support for Gunn promoting the movie. Another one of the heartfelt comments goes here: “James, it’s Luke, your biggest fan… Thank you so much for giving me the Superman movie I’ve dreamed of my whole life.” Or another might have just said, “Just make a good Superman film. That’s all you have to do. The rest will fall into place.”
Then there are those wild answers. Someone’s cheeky side started to show, asking if the Smallville theme would make it into the movie. Meanwhile, another pleaded for Gunn to cast that actress as Power Girl. Of course, a Brazilian lost it and shouted out the classic ‘Come to Brazil!’
Gunn’s Superman film so heavily weighed with expectations regarding not just the future of DC but also with regard to his career and the burden of reputation after suddenly entangling himself in the franchise. However, after all the mixed feeling have shown that maybe whatever he does, he just can’t win everyone over anyway. But hey, that is superhero fandom for you.

Talking about it has become a tradition; however, for now, Gunn is relaxed prior to the buzz of what may become DC’s flagship film in years. Will it fly? Or will it crash? We’ll probably never find out. What we do know is that there are many talks, and talk in Hollywood does go a long way.
