Vanessa Kirby just shook the internet with a trailer for her forthcoming Netflix thriller, leaving everyone scrambling to get their opinions out. The actress released a rather ambiguous forty-second clip from the film with the hashtag “One night. One shot. No turning back.” Therefore, judging from the volume chaos in that clip, this is one wild ride coming through Netflix on the 15th of August.

The trailer has Kirby shrieking in full panic, “money problems, cars” with a clear intent of giving it an emergency family voice. Screams, crying, begging, all mixed up in a desperate manner- there are moments where one can hear, “You are dead.” This is the very essence of a thriller. The vibe inexplicably reminded me of that Safdie brothers style Instagram moment of mid-crisis present in Uncut Gems.
Comparisons made their way in straight away from the fans. Somebody wrote that it looked very much like Good Time, especially the one where Robert Pattinson’s character was in the film. The fans continued: “Your character reminds me of Connie in Good Time; it would be amazing if Kirby and Pattinson worked together someday.” Another comment said, “REAL FILMS ARE BACK” alongside fire emojis, seemingly implying they have been deprived of such films since ages.
The hype has already started, and many are faced with problems of complete unavailability to the outside world post-release. “Oh I know for a fact I won’t be available for ANYONE once this is released,” the fan went on a tirade. They cannot be blamed; given the intensity of the trailer and Kirby’s history of brilliant performances, this has to be seen.
International fans pitched in as well. Messages from Mexico and Slovakia kept popping up. One Slovakian fan was even asking if Kirby would ever visit their country, while another from Mexico said, “Wherever Vanessa Kirby is that’s where I’ll be.” This one has love worldwide.
Some comments… got interesting. One spontaneously started talking about steroids and international rumors? I do not really see the connection to the movie, but hey, that’s how the internet goes. Most stayed loyal, shouting praises about Kirby’s range and how that is going to propel her onto more amazing projects. “Definition of booked and busy,” said one viewer, and right they were. It’s her moment, between this and her other recent ventures.
Considering the thriller coming out on 15th of August, fans will not have a long time to wait. Looking at Kerr’s reaction to this movie, Netflix better prepare their servers for huge traffic. Considering the freaking insane premise, the star power of Kirby, and a Safdie-esque vibe so many people are hooking on to, this might already land as one of the big-talk releases this summer.

Rumors suggest that more trailers could be released sometime before August, but this nevertheless has done all the magic for everyone already hyped about it, comments have gone wild about it, and everyone is now in the process of penciling it in-one of the most intense roles anyone has seen Kirby carry. So gear-up because this one will not let go.
