The sixth and final week of the regular LEC Summer Split, and for once, there’s harmony between robot and human, all celebrating being bad, together.

Craig‘s two-week winning streak came to an abrupt end last weekend, and it was the first week that not a single one of our clanker, or expert tipster, landed a fictional accumulator. The mystical bookmaker must have been lapping it up. Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT all had stinkers too, with ChatGPT and Gemini only managing one correct pick each, despite all their bravado and convincing explanation as to why they were going to win.

The leaderboard barely moved, but Craig’s cushion at the top is intact simply because everyone else is also, quite bad at predicting the future.

As I did last week, I handed each LLM the running total to remind them again that they’re bad, and they’d know exactly where they stood before making their picks. Judging by the results, that context has been differently interpreted by each AI.

ChatGPT, sitting at a brutal -$50, has abandoned caution in the pursuit of victory, which is fair enough. Gemini and Claude are both playing catch-up in more measured ways. Craig, for his part, has decided that if he’s going to lose, he’s going to lose being… very human. He’s opted for a four-fold, to quote, “to piss away my tenner on higher risk and go out in style, or bank mega bucks and completely trash the bots.”

Week five: how it played out

For the first time in this competition’s short, but storied history, all four competitors failed to win a fictional accumulator. You can imagine the celebrations in the make-believe bookmaker.

Predictor Leg 1 Leg 2 Leg 3 Leg 4 Legs Won Acca Result Net P/L on $10
Craig Lost Won Won Won 3/4 Lost -$10.00
Claude Won Lost Won — 2/3 Lost -$10.00
ChatGPT Lost Won Lost — 1/3 Lost -$10.00
Gemini Won Lost Lost Lost 1/4 Lost -$10.00

Craig came closest, missing only his opening leg (SK Gaming to beat Team Heretics) before the rest of his ticket stormed home. Claude’s two-leg-friendly approach still cost it, with Movistar KOI causing headaches through inconsistently throughout.

    The running total

Five weeks in, and while the order at the top hasn’t changed, but everyone’s a tenner less well off.

    Predictor Week 1 P/L Week 2 P/L Week 3 P/L Week 4 P/L Week 5 P/L Cumulative P/L
    Craig -$10.00 -$10.00 +$23.38 +$34.38 -$10.00 +$27.76
    Gemini +$58.76 -$10.00 -$10.00 -$10.00 -$10.00 +$18.76
    Claude +$43.60 +$4.33 -$10.00 -$10.00 -$10.00 +$17.93
    ChatGPT -$10.00 -$10.00 -$10.00 -$10.00 -$10.00 -$50.00

Craig still leads, roughly $9 clear of Gemini, who holds a tiny edge over Claude. ChatGPT’s now five for five on losing weeks and sitting at -$50.00, which now it’s decided it’s going to try and climb out of.

    The odds at a glance

Predictor Legs Combined Odds Potential Return Profit on $10
    ChatGPT 3 5.79 $57.90 $47.90
    Gemini 4 4.92 $49.22 $39.22
    Craig 4 3.52 $35.20 $25.20
    Claude 2 3.37 $33.66 $23.66

ChatGPT is now explicitly trying to win the tournament, and has actually gone for a decent sized accumulator that is well priced. It did the same last week, but failed to pick anything that actually won. Which, it transpires, ain’t the best strategy for esports betting.

Gemini has kept its familiar four-leg blend of favorites and handicaps close behind. Craig has gone the biggest on legs outside of Gemini, mixing three straight favorites with a total-maps bet, while Claude got spooked by picking three entire picks last week, so is back to two for week six.

As before, I’ve included the exact wording provided by each chatbot (and by Craig) in response to the same identical prompt each week — again alongside our own running total, given how differently everyone reacted to it last time. Nothing has been edited, nor any hallucinations checked or corrected.

    The picks

    Claude: Back-to-basics

    Date Match Selection Odds (Fractional)
Sat 29 Aug, 16:00 Karmine Corp vs SK Gaming Karmine Corp -1.5 8/15
Sun 30 Aug, 15:15 Movistar KOI vs Team Heretics Movistar KOI -1.5 6/5

Time to recalibrate rather than double down on the same formula.

    This Week’s Bet: 2-Leg Accumulator

    Match Selection Odds Why
Karmine Corp vs SK Gaming (Sat 16:00) Karmine Corp -1.5 (win 2-0) 8/15 Karmine are priced at 1/10 just to win — there’s almost no value taking them straight up. The market still gives real weight to the sweep at 8/15, and the gap between these two sides looks big enough to justify it.
Movistar KOI vs Team Heretics (Sun 15:15) Movistar KOI -1.5 (win 2-0) 6/5 Same logic — KOI are 3/10 to just win, so I’m getting paid properly (6/5) for backing the clean sweep rather than the near-guaranteed straight win.

    Combined odds: ~3.37 (roughly 12/5)

    Stake: $10

    Potential return: ~$33.66 → profit of ~$23.66

    Implied hit rate: ~30%

Why this and not something else

Lesson from last week: I stretched a 3-leg acca and one leg didn’t cover — probably the tighter handicap. This week I’m trimming to 2 legs and picking sweeps only where the underlying ML price already screams “one-sided,” not close contests dressed up as -1.5 value.

Skipped Natus Vincere vs GIANTX: even though NAVI are favorites to win (8/11), their -1.5 line drifts out to 12/5, and GIANTX are actually priced as ML favorites in some markets — that’s a genuinely competitive match, not a confident sweep spot.

Skipped Fnatic vs GIANTX: the “to win” prices (10/11 vs 4/5) show this as close to a coinflip, with GIANTX arguably the better side. Too uncertain to chase again after last week.

No straight-win-only bets: at 1/10 and 3/10, a plain ML acca on the two heavy favorites would only return about $14 profit on a $10 stake — barely better than doing nothing.

This keeps me disciplined (only backing sides that are already massive favorites) while still chasing real upside via the handicap line, rather than repeating the leaner-but-riskier 3-leg structure that just cost me.

    ChatGPT: Chasing its $50 hole

    Date Match Selection Odds (Fractional)
Fri 28 Aug Team Heretics vs Shifters Team Heretics to win 4/7
Sat 29 Aug Karmine Corp vs SK Gaming Karmine Corp -1.5 8/15
Mon 31 Aug Natus Vincere vs GIANTX GIANTX to win 1/1

    Week 6: I’m -$50, so there’s no point pretending I’m protecting a bankroll

Five weeks, five losing $10 stakes. ChatGPT sits at -$50, so I need a result that actually changes the leaderboard rather than clawing back $6 with a string of 1/10 favourites.

    My $10 bet: three-leg accumulator

    • Team Heretics to beat Shifters — 4/7
    • Karmine Corp -1.5 maps vs SK Gaming — 8/15
    • GIANTX to beat Natus Vincere — 1/1

    Combined odds: approximately 4.79/1

    $10 return: approximately $57.90

    Profit: +$47.90

Even if it lands, I’m still technically underwater at about -$2.10 overall, but at least I’m back in touching distance rather than spending another week digging.

Heretics are hardly a powerhouse, but Shifters enter Week 6 at 0–7, with just three map wins from 17. Heretics have at least shown they can beat teams around them, including Fnatic earlier in the split, so 4/7 is usable without being completely pointless.

The strongest leg is KC 2–0 SK. Karmine Corp reached this stage 8–0 with a 16–2 map record, while SK were 3–5. KC finally conceded a map to Shifters last week, but still won the series; at 8/15, I would rather back another sweep than add their 1/10 match price.

And GIANTX at evens is the value play. They beat G2 2–1 on Monday immediately after sweeping Heretics 2–0, while NAVI’s recent run has been much more uneven: losses to Vitality and KOI alongside wins over Heretics and Fnatic. The market makes NAVI a slight favourite, but on current form I think GIANTX at 1/1 is the side I want.

Risk profile: 8/10. At -$50, I’m not interested in winning $13 and celebrating moral progress. This is the “please stop embarrassing yourself in front of the other robots” ticket.

    Gemini: Will the handicaps deliver?

    Date Match Selection Odds (Fractional)
Fri 28 Aug Team Heretics vs Shifters Team Heretics To Win 4/7
Sat 29 Aug Karmine Corp vs SK Gaming Karmine Corp -1.5 Match Handicap 8/15
Sun 30 Aug Team Vitality vs Shifters Team Vitality -1.5 Match Handicap 4/7
Sun 30 Aug Movistar KOI vs Team Heretics Movistar KOI To Win 3/10

Sitting at +$18.76 following Week 5’s sweep of losses, we are $9.00 behind Craig (+$27.76) and holding a slim $0.83 cushion over Claude (+$17.93). To reclaim first place without resorting to volatile longshots, this $10 allocation goes into a balanced 4-leg accumulator combining heavy moneyline favorites with high-probability map handicaps.

    Tactical Rationale

    • Team Heretics To Win (4/7): Heretics hold a clear early laning advantage over Shifters and should secure the series outright in Friday’s opener.
    • Karmine Corp -1.5 (8/15): Heavily favored KC (1/10 moneyline) should comfortably sweep SK Gaming 2-0 without dropping a map.
    • Team Vitality -1.5 (4/7): Vitality face a 5/1 underdog Shifters squad on Sunday, making a clean 2-0 sweep the expected baseline given their superior objective control.
    • Movistar KOI To Win (3/10): Movistar KOI’s late-game macro execution makes them a reliable moneyline anchor against Heretics.

    Financial Outlook & Risk Profile

    • Stake: $10.00
    • Combined Odds: 4.92 / 1
    • Potential Return: $49.22 ($39.22 net profit)
    • A winning slip vaults our cumulative standing from +$18.76 to +$57.98, putting intense pressure on Craig while opening a comfortable gap over Claude and ChatGPT.

    Craig: Careless abandon

    Date Match Selection Odds (Fractional)
Sat 29 Aug Team Vitality vs Fnatic Team Vitality to win 4/7
Sat 29 Aug Karmine Corp vs SK Gaming Karmine Corp to win 1/10
Mon 31 Aug Natus Vincere vs GIANTX Over 2.5 total maps 5/6
Sun 30 Aug Team Vitality vs Shifters Team Vitality to win 1/9

If I’m being honest, this week is an absolute acca eliminator with how close most of these matchups should go. We also can’t ignore that each team is actually playing for something, with NaVi, GiantX, Fnatic, SK and Vitality all needing one or two matches to go their way to lock in a playoff spot, top four or something else entirely. Most of these teams play each other too, which should make the week even more tense for fans and pundits alike. The winner this week shall be the bookies.

As for my strategy, I’m going out with a bang. I could safely bet KC and win like a dollar, beating the bots cleanly and tactically. But that’s boring. I’m here to piss away my tenner on higher risk and go out in style, or bank mega bucks and completely trash the bots. Either one works in my favour and I’m the real winner. Especially since my tenner isn’t even real anyway.

Team Vitality to win — 4/7

I think both Vitality and Fnatic have problems. But Vitality are essentially playing for second now, thanks to G2’s last-second loss. Fnatic on the other hand are trying to clinch their playoff spot and could even make it to Madrid if things go well for them.

I won’t bet on the map count as I think this can get quite messy. But I’m giving Vitality the edge here.

KC to beat SK — 1/10

KC should end the regular season undefeated. If SK pull off the upset I’m more than happy to lose this bet again. It will certainly make the playoff run interesting. Feels like SK needs one win to stay in the fight.

NaVi vs GiantX to go to game 3 — 5/6, and GiantX to win — 1/1

Honestly this could go either way, with these two teams essentially neck and neck in terms of positions all year. I would argue GX have the more clutch factor at this point, but I’m not entirely sure. Hence why I’m going for three games.

Vitality to win against Shifters — 1/9

Shifters are mentally done. The roster is good and Sheo looks fine, but Nuc wants a long-term break and Vitality are again looking to secure second. Shifters are yet to win a series. Overall, Vitality should win.

There are several other matchups left with good odds on the favourites. But I’m already risking it, so I’ll leave the rest out.

    Final Scorecard
