Gods have become central to the overarching plotline of One Piece, especially in the ongoing Elbaf arc. Currently, One Piece awaits the release of chapter 1191 on August 23, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #39. In it, two of the most powerful Gods are going head-to-head.
As the Elbaf arc continues, the lore of the Gods has grown significantly, and more importantly, Eiichiro Oda has also set up new Gods to be revealed following the conclusion of this arc. As One Piece heads even deeper into the Final Saga, these powerful Gods are set to make their presence known and dominate in the Great War to come, which is set to engulf the entire world for the third time.
One Piece Is Set To Welcome The Rain God And Forest God After Elbaf Arc Ends
In One Piece Chapter 1044, which was officially released on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, Eiichiro Oda revealed to us the Sun God Nika. Once Luffy awakened the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, this Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit gave him the ability to transform into the Sun God from myths stemming from Elbaf. Currently, Luffy has mastered the power of Nika to a significant degree and, with it, has even beaten the likes of Kaido, as well as easily overwhelmed the likes of Kizaru without even going all out. Luffy has even managed to fight against Nerona Imu using his Sun God powers, which goes to show how special he truly is.
“Possessing a body with the powers of rubber, and fighting in whatever way he fancies, bringing smiles to the faces of people, the Warrior of Liberation…also known as the Sun God, Nika!” — Gorosei explain Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, One Piece Chapter #1044
There are also other Gods that exist in the world of One Piece apart from Luffy. For instance, the Elbaf arc introduced us to the Devil God Nerona Imu, who holds the power of the Akuma no Mi in One Piece Chapter 1179 on April 5, 2026. Similarly, Loki, who is the new God of War of Elbaf and wields the power of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, was revealed in One Piece Chapter 1175. These are not the only Gods that the Final Saga of One Piece will show us.
In the Harley, which was showcased in One Piece Chapter 1138, Eiichiro Oda officially introduced a few major Gods that are set to make their appearance in the story sooner or later. Among them, the two most important ones that we are awaiting are the Forest God and the Rain God. Both the Forest God and Rain God were originally mentioned in One Piece Chapter 287, which was released 23 years ago on August 11, 2003, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump double issue #37-38. This chapter showcased the Noland flashback and officially introduced us to the main gods of the One Piece world, including Sun God Nika. The Forest God and Rain God were also officially mentioned here, and that sets up the introduction of these powerful Gods following the conclusion of the Elbaf events.
“God of the Sun, God of the Rain, God of the Forest, God of the Earth, please take this woman’s blood and save our village from disaster.” — Shandians introduce 4 Gods, One Piece Chapter #287
The Importance Of The Rain God And Forest God In The Final Saga
Technically speaking, One Piece Chapter 287 introduced us to 4 main Gods, and out of them, we have only seen one, and that is Luffy’s Sun God Nika. The Forest God, the Rain God, and the Earth God remain to be unveiled. The main reason why we await the reveal of two main Gods after Elbaf is that they were being referenced directly in Elbaf and foreshadowed for a future reveal.
The first of them all is the Rain God Zaza, which was officially introduced to us in One Piece Chapter 1182 on May 10, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24. The Rain God was mentioned by Killingham and is said to be one of the biggest fears of the Celestial Dragons. The fact that it has already been introduced in its MMA form means that Eiichiro Oda is lining up its proper introduction in the series. The likeliest person to wield the power of the Rain God Zaza would be Vivi, and we are eagerly waiting to see her comeback and potential reunion with the Straw Hat crew.
“We were born in a place so high, it’s above all the rain clouds. Water coming down from the sky? It’s a mysterious terror! After the people of D and Nika, it was the most common boogeyman they warned us about…that in the lower world, there’s a monster called the Rain God that dumps water on top of your head!” — Killingham explains Rain God Zaza, One Piece Chapter #1182
There is also the Forest God’s case to consider. At this point in time, it is unknown as to who the forest god is, but Harley directly references the Forest God, stating it to be one of the primary reasons for the propagation of Devil Fruits in the Second World. There are multiple ideas as to who the Forest God could be, with some even linking Chopper to this godly entity, but that is highly unlikely to be the case. Other popular ideas suggest Mosa from Elbaf to be directly linked to the Forest God, and given the direct relation between their names, it is likely that they could very well be this person. In either case, once the Elbaf arc wraps up, we will find out more about who the Forest God is.
“Within Nothingness, there was breath. The Forest God tamed the demons, and the Sun spread the fires of war. Those of the half moon dreamed. Those of the moon dreamed. Man killed the Sun and became God, and the Sea God stormed. And they’ll never meet again.” — Oda teases the Forest God through the Harley, One Piece Chapter #1138
More Gods Are Set To Be Revealed In One Piece Before The End
There are also other Gods in One Piece that we are waiting for the introduction of, and among them is the Earth God, who most certainly fights against Nika on the opposing end. The Earth God was said to be present in both the First and the Second World and was also the ruler of the world at the time. The Earth God, together with the Serpent of Hellfire, was the one primarily responsible for the destruction of the First World long ago, as confirmed by Harley in One Piece Chapter 1138.
As things stand, everything points to Nerona Imu being the Earth God of One Piece, but Eiichiro Oda hasn’t explicitly confirmed this yet, so we await an official confirmation of the identity of the Earth God. There is also the Sea God of the One Piece world, and while most of us believed it to be none other than Shirahoshi, One Piece Chapter 1189, which was officially released on July 26, 2026, confirmed to us that the Sea God was among the 19 Kings. His sword, Fragarach, currently belongs to Nerona Imu. The Sea God is most certainly dead, but whether a replacement will rise in the current world order or not remains to be seen. In either case, more Gods are set to be revealed in the Final Saga, and we absolutely cannot wait to see what Eiichiro Oda has lined up for us after Elbaf.
