A New Challenger Appears! – Mr. Karate Brings Kyokugenryu to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

Mr. Karate’s Mighty Roar Echoes Through the City of the Wolves Once Again!

Mr. Karate debuted in ART OF FIGHTING (1992), serving as the game’s all-but-unconquerable final boss.

The man behind the mask, it turned out, was none other than Takuma Sakazaki, founder of Kyokugen Karate. But he wasn’t the only one to do it. Takuma’s son, Ryo Sakazaki, took up the mantle himself in FATAL FURY: WILD AMBITION—and thus Mr. Karate II was born.

Now, more than 25 years later, the legendary masked warrior returns to the Fatal Fury franchise as the latest character to join the roster in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves. Again, his entire being is shrouded in mystery—save for his masterful use of Kyokugen Karate and quintessential Art of Fighting mechanics like Razz and Spirit Charge.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves - Mr. Karate

Here are some of his moves!

    Ryuugeki Ken

A technique that fires a projectile infused with fighting energy straight ahead

It can be used to pressure the opponent from a distance.

The Heavy version can be charged by holding the button down, allowing you to unleash Haou Shoukou Ken, so try using both the Light and Heavy versions strategically for zoning.

The Heavy, REV, and Haou Shoukou Ken versions can all be canceled on hit into the follow-up move, Dragon Burst, which can be used to extend combos or close the distance, so give it a try!

    Hien Shippuu Kyaku

An energy-charged flying kick launched straight ahead

The Light version launches the opponent on counter hit. Try to connect with the very tip of the attack to avoid leaving yourself open to punishment.

The Heavy and REV versions can also follow-up into Dragon Burst on hit, making them useful for extending combos and converting openings into stronger offense.

    Ryuuga

A rising uppercut driven upward with concentrated fighting energy

It works well as an anti-air option against opponents who try to jump in to avoid your ground pressure.

By holding the button, you can also unleash Kyokugen Ryuga, a powered-up version with more hits and greater damage.

The Heavy, REV, and Kykugen Ryuga versions can all be braked, allowing you to follow up with additional attacks. Make sure to input the brake consistently so you don’t miss out on extra damage.

    Gen’ei Kyaku

A rapid flurry of kicks unleashed at blinding speed

It connects easily from Heavy attacks, making it a strong option for starting combos.

The Heavy and REV versions can also follow-up into Dragon Burst on hit, giving you a reliable way to extend your damage.

On top of that, the REV version can chain into a variety of other REV special moves through REV Accel, opening the door to high-damage combo routes. Be sure to experiment and see what kind of conversions you can create.

     Drago Supremo

An ultimate stance that goes beyond the limits of Kyokugen Karate, giving you an answer for just about any situation

It lets you absorb an opponent’s attack and immediately counter, though it’s worth noting that low attacks can only be caught with the REV version.

From this stance, you can flow into a variety of follow-up options worthy of its name. These include Dragon Step, which slips past an opponent’s attack, Shouran Kyaku, which lets you move in to grab them, and Dragon Step, a powerful heel drop that can be triggered during a counter or with an additional input.

Whether you use it at mid-range to read your opponent’s next move or right in front of them to keep them guessing, Drago Supremo gives you plenty of room to get creative. Take the time to explore it and find out how to use it in a way that works best for you.

    Ryuuko Ranbu

A Kyokugenryu secret art that charges forward at high speed before unleashing a flurry of strikes too fast for the eye to follow

Because it surges forward so aggressively at the start, it can easily reach opponents from a fair distance away, making it a reliable way to close out combos.

It also has invincibility at the start of the move, so it’s a super move you can comfortably use in neutral as well—whether you’re cutting off an opponent’s offense or blowing through a projectile.

Join the Fight in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves!

If you’re ready to jump in, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves is now available in a Standard Edition format, giving you access to all game modes and the full base roster at an affordable price. Season Pass 1 is also now available as a separate purchase, bringing together the first wave of DLC fighters: Andy Bogard, Ken and Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Joe Higashi, and Mr. Big.

For players looking for the complete package, the Legend Edition is available now and bundles the base game with both Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2. It’s a great way for both newcomers and longtime fans to experience everything City of the Wolves has to offer as the roster continues to grow.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Season Pass 2

Season Pass 2 will feature six characters, with one new fighter arriving each month, including Fatal Fury favorites Kim Jae Hoon, Nightmare Geese, Blue Mary, and Wolfgang Krauser, alongside the newly announced Mr. Karate and Kenshiro from FIST OF THE NORTH STAR. Join the pack and celebrate the launch of Season 2 with a new wave of battles in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves.

    * Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2 are sold separately.

After 26 years, FATAL FURY is back!

SNK’s beloved Fatal Fury series first hit the market in 1991, spearheading the fighting game boom of the 1990s that swept the industry thereafter. GAROU: MARK OF THE WOLVES (released in 1999) has, for some time, served as the franchise’s most recent installment. But that is all about to change: 26 years on, a brand-new entry—FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves—is set to arrive on the scene!
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves features a unique art style that stimulates the senses, an innovative REV system that supercharges the excitement, plus a host of other battle systems even more robust than before. The game also breathes new life into the series by introducing two distinct control schemes (ensuring fun and excitement for newcomers and veterans alike) as well as other fresh features and elements.
The streets of South Town are a hotbed of action, wild dreams, and even wilder ambition. Here, at long last, a new legend is about to unfold…
